Please please please, at least give us that host option to choose a specific bot.
It's horrible, coz a lottery, playing random bots on 1vX maps which are mainly designed to start with equal chances for all players.

Thanks a bunch for the tip about the turn time limit. I was only about 3 turns away from victory, and I just wanted to finish the game to get the star. That went quick!

I've been looking and looking.

You could
- use "Online -> Email Feedback" from within Vox
- use "Help -> About Castle Vox", click the "Tech Support" link that directs to a page containing an email address

To come back to that extreme maps issue: Unfortunately, there are only workarounds with the current Vox version, but I don't think there will be a fix or something like that, because it's an issue with specific bots, possibly Polymath only.
First option, the recommended one, is to not select hard bots, because at least Polymath uses algorithms that need a considerable amount of time to compute, and that's more significant the larger the map is.
Second option is to limit the turn time with hard bots, but one has to be aware that it may interrupt bot "thinking" resulting in some or more bot moves not being executed. However, it's questionable imho that a bot does compute several hours to finish his turn.

The Vox bot source code is available in the AI SDK in case you like to have a closer look.

I'm sorry, but different team unit icons won't work either. You can only separate players by color, and they will have the same unit icons.

I still don't understand how a map could make that "necessary", but it's ok. Maybe you could share a map image later.

I was testing that map with all Polymath bots when I had to wait longer and longer for the bot moves to complete.
I'm still waiting for an answer from Sillysoft and will post more later.

No, that can't be done.
Why would you like to do that? It makes little sense, since both units have different attack/defense values and cost a different amout of gold. It's part of common game strategy to build a specific amout of both units depending on the game situation.

DrSnuggles,

I am using a 3.17 Ghz Intel Duo Core with 4GB of RAM running Windows 7 64 bit.

Here's the link for the screenshot

http://s17.postimg.org/4rbey2ddr/Turn_165.jpg

I used Online -> Bug Report to report the issue.

Basically, for the last 10 turns or so, it has been quite difficult to get a turn to complete so I can move on to the next turn. I thought maybe I had too many units, so I killed a bunch off, and stopped recruiting more. That seemed to get me through turns 160-164, but then it kept happening, so I don't know what to do at this point.

By leaving it possibly over night to "think" you mean Vox keeps hooking your computer cpu at high load w/o ending in turn 165 respectively 166, right?
Can you send a debug report when you believe the game has frozen? It can be found in the "Online" menu.

By the way, what cpu is built in your computer, how fast is it?

I'm on turn 164 of an extreme-sized map and my game keeps freezing within a turn or two. Even if I choose not to move any pieces at all, it still freezes on 165 or 166.
I can leave it on all night to "think", it never finishes the turn.

Hello Folks!

A couple of my favourite maps in Lux Delux are "Israel - Six Day War" by Yvon Tripper and "Middle East - Israel" by Hendriko. What I'd like to see is the brand new Castle Vox versions of these two maps. So, whaddya say fellows? Any chance of that future possibility? Please.....

Hello Folks,

Absolutely love this game! However, there's one annoying little nag that's getting on my nerves. It's involving the Player Info Box and their integrated columns of "Player", "Brain", "Land", "Army" and Gain". When one switches between different map modes (small to large and back and forth), the PIB columns always revert to their default setting and placement as when the game is first started. It would be much better if these columns remained in the order that the player prefers when switching between different map sizes. I'm getting really tired of having to reset the columns each time I resize a map (this is especially true when playing one of the amazing "Extreme" maps by PK). I've noticed that this little glitch does not occur in the case of the Lux Delux PIBs. Just a little something to think about for the next update. So, what say you, Sir Dustin?

Thank you for your answers. Yes I found a Terminal command to make the library folder visible again.

Alternatively, when using the Finder, you can type Shift-Command-G, and activate the "Go to Folder" command, which can also be found in the "Go" menu, if you're afraid of keyboard shortcuts. Once activated, type "~/Library/Application Support/Vox/" and you'll be taken to the Vox support files directory. Everything you need to tweak Vox can be found there including the "Maps" and "Themes" folders. If you're feeling adventurous, then try opening one of the .voxb map files in a text editor. You can edit them manually, if you wish, but always remember to create a backup first, just in case you accidentally break something.

The latest Mac OS X hides the library folder, inside which maps are stored.

Easiest way to get there is while you're playing a Castle Vox game, go to the Map menu and select the Open Map Folder menu command.
