I've never seen him playing online.
How are these achievements calculated? I've started more than 4000 games and probably ended 10% only due to testing or lack of time. What do these achievements say then? Actually, I don't give anything about that.
Also the ranking list doesn't describe player skills completely, because many games are team games and it greatly depends who your teammates are.
I think the online player community can currently estimate best who's a good player.

Online vs. Standalone
No, I haven't played Vox online.
This was a thread about standalone achievements, not skill in the abstract.
I'm reminded, reading your post, of chatroom comments in online poker, where everybody always poses as the roughest, toughest professional cutting down the amateurs/noobs/donkeys who don't know how to play. Most of those guys live in their parents' basement.
Team games are dependent upon who your teammates are, so individual skill can't be ranked in them? I'm not the expert, but I'd say a large part of the skill in those games involves knowing how to adapt your strategy in response to teammate play. Those who can do that and win, consistently, are better than those who can't.
I never said I was a good player or a bad player or anything else, I just said I earned the Emperor of the Universe achievement, since that was the topic of conversation.
If you don't like that, I guess you're going to have to not like it.
As to whether the online "community" is the best judge of Vox ability, when I hear the word community, I reach for my revolver.

Thanks MB. I have to admit, online/standalone discussion aside, I felt like I earned it.
I may have put a bit too much time into the spoiler maps (I'm thinking of the Iran/Iraq war, which is almost impossible to dominate because of the Kurds ..., or Roman Empire Franks/Saxons).

Re: Online vs. Standalone
Erik, neither did I devalue your achievement, nor did I say anything in that direction. I'm just sceptic about these achievements. That's pretty all.
I hope to not sound snottily, but offline games vs. bots (what I assume you do) and online games vs. humans are like night and day. You might anticipate what bots will do and react accordingly, but you can never (current state) reasonably coordinate moves with them, because they'll neither tell their moves nor listen to yours. Adequate team play works with humans only. And if you can't rely on your teammates only one thing will happen in most cases: You're gonna lose.ErikSMeyer wrote:Team games are dependent upon who your teammates are, so individual skill can't be ranked in them? Erik, I was just wondering if you were playing online under a different name. If not I was just hoping more people would start playing online games more often. I was in no way attacking you. If you het some free time you might wanna check out the 16 and 24 hour turn games, they are fun and challenging. Some time they are frustrating if you get a Teamate who has no desire to chat and coordinate moves with you, but you will soon figure out who is fun to play with and against.

Map testers/makers are at a bit of a disadvantage; I've only played a fraction of the 2011 games I started
What my results do show is how easy it is to manipulate the outcome of offline games: It's impossible to win Spartacus in two turns, unless you mess with the start scenario, or make an error as i did while designing the map.
That's not to say I suspect the validity of your results ErikSMeyer, but unless you're playing online who's to say if that revolver you're holding isn't just shooting blanks?
/me wonders where the application form is for a special consideration Vox score re-set?
