Idea: The Existence Bonus

Post by blanco » Mon Oct 31, 2011 3:21 pm

A simple idea: an option in the map editor to give any player a bonus in income just for existing. So, if he has at least one country and/or at least one army unit he will have that income plus his regular income from any provinces he owns. Simple.

One of the benefits this tool would give is that it would be easier and more fun to balance maps, especially big maps. For instance, if you want all the players to have a lot of income but you don't want someone's income to double when he's taken all the land of another player, this is the perfect answer. Because when a player dies, his Existence Bonus dies with him and all the other player gets for taking his provinces is the regular income.

That currently exists, but one has to alter the .vosb files code. It's currently not in the map editor.

If you open the map in a text editor and add money="x" to the player id section of the code. (x being the amount of gold you want the player to start with)

example:

Code: Select all

player id="1" name="Richard" color="0.7019607843137254/0.2/0.2" money="80"

No, what you're talking about is the amount of money players start with. I'm talking about income, money they get every turn.

In others words, a minimum income variable?

yeah, I guess, but with the option to set different values individually for each player. say, are minimum income variables easy to create?
