GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

TOURNEY GAMES WILL RECEIVE A +33% RAW BONUS IN THE NORMAL WEEKLY RANKINGS!

(All Biodeux and no tourneys makes you a dull Luxer.)

WINNER PICKS HAS RETURNED! How does it work? It's simple. The winner can pick the next map from the following list by using the #map command in game chat. Example: #map3 picks Arabia 1959; #map17 picks San Francisco; etc. DO NOT PUT A SPACE BETWEEN MAP AND THE NUMBER! The command only works during the auto-restart countdown between games, and the map choice is locked during the last five seconds. If the winner does not pick a map for next game, then one will be chosen at random. Also, unlike last year, you can play the same map back-to-back.

(Alphabetical order.)

1. 1200 Europe II / 5, 10, 15 / 20% / 30s / 45m
2. 3 Kingdoms China Sanguo / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 36s / 45m
3. Arabia 1959 / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 36s / 60m
4. Battle of the Baltics / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 36s / 60m
5. Central Europe / 3, 6, 9 / 20% / 24s / 30m
6. Classic Twitch / 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20 / 10% / 15s / 30m
7. Classic Twitch Deux / 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20 / 30% / 15s / 30m
8. Eastern Hemisphere / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 40s / 60m
9. Mayan Calender 2012 / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 30s / 45m
10. Middle East III - Iran / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 24s / 30m
11. Middle East Series I - Mediterranean / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 24s / 30m
12. Middle East Series II - Arabia / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 24s / 30m
13. Napa-Sonoma Valley / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 36s / 45m
14. North Brabant / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 36s / 60m
15. Reality TV / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 36s / 45m
16. San Diego / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 30s / 45m
17. San Francisco / 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20 / 0% / 27s / 30m
18. The Civilizations / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 40s / 60m
19. The League against Lord Luthor / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 33s / 45m
20. War in Asia / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 40s / 60m
21. War in the galaxy - rise of an empire / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 30s / 30m
22. Yugoslavia 1922 / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 30s / 45m

PLEASE MEMORIZE YOUR FAVORITE MAP NUMBERS BEFORE YOU WIN!

(Those thirty seconds will disappear quicker than you expect.)

Two final notes:

1. Huge maps have been omitted from this tournament. Personally, I don't think they're practical for online play with multiple humans. They would require hours and hours, and 99% of players simply don't have that much time for a single game. Furthermore, there would be no reasonable way to score them for tourney purposes. I do however suggest that you play them offline before sending dustin any votes for Best Map of 2012.

2. There will be a tournament RAW bonus for playing a variety of maps. I haven't decided how much yet, but I would estimate that you could earn up to 100 additional points by playing all 22 maps, or perhaps more. I will post a final number tomorrow, and add a column to the tournament leaderboard — link — so everyone can factor the bonus into their chase strategy.

As with most things Lux, it's important that everyone help one another, and explain things to each other along the way. Most players don't read the forums, or click the links in my game description, so they won't be familiar with the winner picks option. Please take a moment or two and remind your fellow players about the command, and encourage them to use it when appropriate. A few moments of kindness can go a long way to making Lux better for us all.

(Thanks.)

Prof!

Congratulations on your tournament victory. The first of many, i dare say...

And to GK and gypsy.

Fun games (in spite of the odd infuriating pathing incidents :wall: ).
