Thanks para for making the effort to commemorate luxtoberfest
As a token of gratitude, I'll try to play luxfest games rather than bio.
btw, you said qualification mandates 2 hours play or 5 games.
with the lack of timer, that could be just one game

(Bravo, Meron!)

I hope many other people follow your example, and they will try something new this month.

My gut says three hours minimum per tournament, but I didn't wanna be too demanding. I'll settle on a final number by Saturday morning. Most of the usual players will surpass the minimum requirement with ease. The specific threshold should only apply to more casual players. If you hope to earn a special month long medal for Luxtoberest, then you will need to play the minimum in most tournaments.

Everyone, please, do what you can to encourage other players to read this forum thread, and play in games they would usually ignore. I can arrange these tournaments, but I can't make you all play outside of your comfort zones. If this Luxtoberfest is to be successful, then it depends upon you all banding together, and being brave enough to mingle.

ALL WINNERS PICK ROOMS!!

It's not the change that luxtopia wants, but it's the change that luxtopia deserves! Come play and learn how to adapt to more than 1 map! I promise that it will make you a better player in the long run... And better players make for better games. Better games make for return players. Returning players make for a happier healthier lux! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D See you kids around!

This is what Luxtoberfest has come to? No regular tournaments?
I don't want to learn or play the weird maps, I like playing classic and bio, and an occasional shrooms. but to force people to play only the games that no one ever plays is ridiculous. Seems like just another nail in the coffin... I miss old Lux.

Go cry to dustin if you have a problem. The remnant that has emerged in his extended apathy is doing its best to enjoy lux and put together a fun month in honour of the best of what is luxtoberfest.

If you choose not to participate, there is always tetris. But please don't poo on the good-intentioned efforts (amidst the reality of an absentee owner) of those who are stepping forward to help the rest of us enjoy the next month.

Luxtoberfest has always been about spreading our wings a bit in terms of maps. I remember losing the tie breaking highest seed tourney game in 2005, and it was played on To The Power Of Hex. Strangely enough, it wasn't until 2011 that there were dedicated classic and biodeux tourneys in Luxtoberfest, and the overwhelming majority of biodeux players didn't even realize they were in a tournament 'cause they were simply playing the same game they'd been playing all year long.

I'm not gonna fuss or argue about any of this stuff though. In all honesty, I'm an unwilling host this year, but sometimes we all must do something that we'd rather not do. There was no advance planning or promotion, and I suspect this month will be very subdued, but some Luxtoberfest is better than no Lutoberfest. Sad, but true, and that's okay. Not all meals can be feasts. Famines happen occasionally.

I'd like to believe that some of the changes coming later this month — exponential cards, dedicated color collusion scoring system, more dynamic biohazard map generation, etc. — will be for the long term betterment of Lux. I'm eager to see how players respond to those changes. Hopefully, by this time next year, we can look back on this month as the low water mark for our community, and with a sense of accomplishment in terms of growth and improvements from here.

I'll add some month long awards for best players in Classic, Biodeux, Rome, and Expletus.

(Leaderboards for those standings will be later this week.)

I added a link to the current leaderboard in the Winner Picks post above. Be advised that I have set the minimum requirement at five games, although I might adjust that downward to four or three games based on overall participation numbers after the tournament has concluded. Players can receive up to a +12.5% bonus for playing more than the minimum up until twenty games. The maximum map bonus is +12.5% based on how many maps you played, and the maximum number of humans on each map.

IMPORTANT NOTE: TWITCH GAMES ARE LAG SENSITIVE. IF YOUR LAG IS RUINING GAMES FOR OTHER PLAYERS, THEN PLEASE GUEST OUT, OR ELSE I WILL REMOVE YOU FROM THE RANKINGS, AND BAN YOU FROM FUTURE TOURNEY GAMES!

(Please use /report to flag games where lag was a problem.)

More maps being added; temporary list:

1. Antarctica / 5, 10, 15 / 40% / 13s

Ends: Thursday, October 16 @ 6pm EDT

The usual Stooges have returned, although AFK Sto0oges has been dumbed down. Please remember to install all map plugins before joining the tournament room in order to save yourself the trouble and inconvenience of having to install themes during a game. Like all tournaments this year, there are no game time limits in effect. Marathon if you like chatting with your friends, but please do be aggressive when need be, and resist the temptation to target and suicide whenever things don't go your way.

(Ahem. Don't be a bully. Not everyone else is as good as you. Yes, you. I'm talking to you. Especially you.)

1. Castle Lux - The Last King / 5, 10, 15 / 30% / 45s
2. Castle Lux HD / 5, 10, 15 / 20% / 36s
3. Castle Lux IP / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 30s
4. Castle Lux MP / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 33s
5. Castle Lux SI / 5, 10, 15 / 20% / 45s
6. Castle Lux-Merchants / 5, 10, 15 / 30% / 45s
7. Kingdom of Ayrlawn / 5, 10, 15 / 20% / 33s
8. Kings & Castles - Scotland / 5, 10, 15 / 30% / 45s
9. Londinium HD / 5, 10, 15 / 10% / 30s
10. Siege Lux / 5, 10, 15 / 30% / 36s
11. SIEGE OF TYRE / 5, 10, 15 / 15% / 36s
12. Tyre / 5, 10, 15 / 20% / 36s

(Remember to use the /colsize command when necessary to automatically resize the player info box columns.)
