Privacy in New Lux Version

Post by RogueMonk » Mon Aug 07, 2017 2:29 pm

Is Sillysoft tracking players by MAC address?

Are these addresses being stored permanently?

Does Sillysoft have a public privacy policy that conforms to industry standards and appropriate legal requirements?

If you play online games then sillysoft records and stores your IP address. We have recently added a MAC address id to the latest version, to prevent users from impersonating other people better. We don't store it at the moment, but may in the future.

Our Terms of Service includes a privacy policy:

This is insanity.

The TOS have been changed since August 2nd, quite probably in response to this thread. And Rogue Monk says that he has been threatened with banning if he continues in this thread. Then again, PJB in his infinite modly wisdom has apparently threatened to ban him anyway. So there's that.

I do not have a horse in this race. I have objected and posted when EITHER SIDE in this ridiculous Lux feud has played fast and loose with reality. And I'm doing again.

Since this will change, I am including two partial screen shots.

Now knock it off, please. My buddy Nimmy would be ashamed of y'all.

What are you talking about? I didn't even know of any changes in the software or TOS until rogue monk started this thread and dustin confirmed it. I never threatened roguemonk to be banned or anyone else for that matter. Rogue monk has all the right to ask these question. Im not bothered by it at all. Why are you making these fake stories up? Stop trolling please!

Um....not sure where you heard that. But its not true. I was not threatened with suspension over this thread.

That being said, thanks for the posting. Privacy is important, more and more so these days. I didn't realize that the TOS had just changed. But if creating this thread has helped sillysoft and its clients focus on personal privacy (even if in covert ways), I'm happy to bare the brunt of the heat I have taken for asking the three simple questions.

Software was updated on August 6th.

Terms and privacy policy updated August 8th to reflect that. Changes were pretty minor, as you can see.

RogueMonk's behaviour has been under examination for some time, much before this thread.

Excuse me? How is starting this thread a behaviour problem? It simply asked three questions--legitimate, timely and relevant. If that is a behaviour problem, I'm with TSK:

I answered your questions, straight up. So let's keep this on-topic about that, in case it's an actual topic to discuss.

It is not just Rogue you should be apologising for for your latest act of slander and calumny.
