Sillysoft was recently contracted to make a game as part of the pormotion of a new TV mini-series "The Devil's Brigade" which is aring now in Canada.

If you want to get Devil's Brigade Lux you can download it here. It's made up of 1 funky lux map with a scenario.

I really like this map, I have played it for an hour now on 'General' and it was really hard. The bot is too tough...grr
The music is great!
Well done!

nice work, what ai is the bot using.

The white armies of the 'dead' bot are interesting. Does that mean that there could be 'neutral' countries in future versions of lux?

Nice one Dustin and mbauer - the map is great, it's nice with an almost 3D effect, and the music adds to the ambience. Shame it's just the one mission but it's a great marketing tool nonetheless.

Isn't that the AHL theme? It's a beautiful map, but I think the difficulty level could be more challenging (I easily beat the Nazis on the first try on "General" setting). I see some SHCL members in the credits...

The opening music track is from the Devil's Brigade TV show. The second music track is taken from American History Lux. The bots used are Nefarious and EvilPixie on the higher levels. It was meant to be pretty easy, since it's free for all and meant for newb Luxers.

Yes, this is slowly being worked on with the eventual intent of being included in Lux.

Very Cool map Dustin. A Classic frontal assault on a machine gun nest.

Any chance of it being added to the plugin manager?

All part of the Anti-Holy Church of Lux's plan to keep everyone happily entertained and to spread the gospel of Lux. I don't see the semi-holy cult providing fun and games to you, the masses of luxtopia...hmmmmm...I wonder who has your best interests at heart?

If the anti-holy cult's plan is to provide one map missions that can be completed by 3 year olds within a couple of tries even on 'General' level, then we are indeed all most impressed :P

Ahhhh..leave it to the semi-holies to reduce themselves and this community to pety insults and name calling, thereby perpetuating a negative atmosphere. We need more of that! Way to go semi-holies!

As Dustin said the map was intended to be easy since the main audience are people who have never played Lux. We want to welcome them into our flock. We don't want them to feel defeated and ridiculed, as the semi-holies would wish.

A much harder game with many more missions will be provided shortly, the anti-holy church assures you of this.

Possibly sometime in the future, but not at the moment.

If you go digging inside the DBLux install folder (Windows) or inside the application bundle (Mac) you can find the map and theme, and copy them into your Lux Delux folders.

It's not yours to change/modify or upload so please don't do that again without the authors written consent. Thank you

El Toro

Those semi-holies that were included are only there in the anti-holy attempt to "reach across the aisle" and heal the wounds of luxtopia, which you semies are constantly ignoring. Besides there's only 2 semi-holies.

is this still available?

I actually worked on the show as the sound recordist and downloaded the game. I had hours of fun playing with it.

I'm a Lux noob but now have Lux Touch

I recently upgraded my operating system and now it doesn't work and the site it was available from doesn't exist anymore. Since it was free does anyone have a version that works on Mac OS 10.5.5 ? Perhaps mine got corrupted somehow? (and now it's trashed)

Thanks!

I checked the site, but I see no download for this promotion game. Where is it?

My guess is the promotion is over - the original post is over 2 years old.

Thanks for this, I really missed it. I just got into Lux and remembered I had it on the computer from a few years back and was disappointed that it seemed to have corrupted somehow. Great to be back on Mount Difensa again.

The show, by the way, was a Living History recreation. We took a squad of modern-day special services soldiers from USA and Canada (Green Berets, SEALS, JTF2, Rangers, guys like that) and brought them together in Helena Montana, the site of the original training camp for the 1st Special Service Force (FSSF) from WWII and put them through the original training regimen using WWII techniques and equipment. The idea was to see if the modern soldier, dependant on technology and modern training techniques, could withstand the rigors of the training back then. In essence, are they as tough now as back in the day?

The FSSF was nicknamed "The Devil's Brigade" by the Germans because they used to paint their faces completely black, sneak into enemy camps at night and pull off silent raids of supplies and such, leaving a sticker wherever they went that read (in German) "Das Dicke Ende Kommt Noch!" "The worst is yet to come." It terrified the Germans when they discovered these stickers (because it meant the FSSF had snuck into and out of the camp undetected) and a German officer wrote in his diary "These black devils, they come at night". Another, more gristly, tactic was to silently slip into a barracks and kill every third soldier sleeping in the bunks. The psychological effect was enormous because if you kill every third man everyone who wakes up wakes up next to a dead man and realizes how close he came to death.

After training was completed we travelled to Italy and recreated one of the FSSF's most famous battles, the Assault of Mount Difensa. A 13-hour, near suicidal night climb under cover of darkness, in operational silence to attack a heavily guarded German machine gun nest at the summit.

In the game you see a broad slope up the mountain and a narrow, steep approach up the back side. This is exactly how it was. The Allies tried numerous times to take the mountain by the "Easy Route" only to be repulsed time and time again. The FSSF made the nearly suicidal decision to climb the supposedly unclimbable cliffs on the North Face and flanked the Germans.

Strangely enough (at least on the lower levels) the game plays out much the same as history. You have to keep pounding and reinforcing along a broad front on the main slope to keep the enemy occupied while gently building a force to make a big push up the back side.

Here's a couple of Youtube links to the show

The opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cny7ud- ... re=related

I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed making it!

Super strange: I've tried to play three times now, and each time, after I hit fortify, the screen goes blank and I cannot get back to the game. I have to force quit to get the screen back. Any ideas?

me too

I am playing on a macbook. I had to unplug and take out the battery to reboot.

First time I didn't wait long enough after battery removal and the computer cam on with the same plank screen and music. I couldn't force quit or anything.

Second time I left power off for a few minutes and could reboot.
