Forum Editing...
Dear dustin,
Now that the forums are back in the Sillysoft domain, could you please reinstitute the practice of having all edited posts noted as such? (Unless one edits their own post AND it's the most recent in the topic, of course.)
Most sincerely,
TSK

Dear Ms. Knot:
We've received your letter and regret to inform you that simply transferring the forums from one domain name to another did not alter the fundamental limitations of the forum software. In other words, there is no practical way to force a timestamped footnote whenever a forum administrator or moderator edits a post, unless he or she chooses to leave one.
Best regards,
paranoiarodeo

He did, but we sent it to Justin Beaver.
Re: Forum Editing...
I made a tweak to the forum software, so that all edits from now on (except editing your own most recent post) should be marked by footnotes in the post. You can see one in your original post above.

Re: Forum Editing...
There is no footnote created for an edit on the last post of a thread by the original poster. If that is what you are referring to as being off again then I can't help you with that. As far as I know it has been like that since the forum update. And in my personal opinion I like this option. I often make small mistakes that I glance over.
Whereas if Beans edited it after someone else posted then I have no idea how such a thing occurred.

Re: Forum Editing...
I think it may have been affected by a forum software update. The Google, etc. bots are also showing up in the 'Who's Online" again, in the same basic timeframe, so it makes sense that that's what happened. If so, it would be greatly appreciated if dustin could reinstate his own update. More an admin than mod issue, I think. That's all.Owned wrote:There is no footnote created for an edit on the last post of a thread by the original poster. Here's a better example: your Castles signup post. It shows the last edit as January 19th, but includes players who've signed up since then.

Re: Forum Editing...
Ahh ok, thanks for the heads up.
Re: Forum Editing...
I did update the forum software to the most recent version. Some custom mods could have been over-written, lemme check...
Re: Forum Editing...
Took me a sec to find where the change had come from. It's back in place now.
In case I ever need to restore it again, here's the link for my future reference.
