What are the differences between BetterPixie and Pixie ?

Post by quartaela » Fri Sep 13, 2013 12:34 pm

Hey all !. Can someone please explain what are the main differences between BetterPixie and Pixie. Moreover, I noticed that in Lux there are only EvilPixie and Pixie, so I guess there is no sign of BetterPixie ?

They're both dumb. Stick with Reaper and Nefarious. Try playing against 5-teaming Reapers and see if you can close your eyes at night without the nightmares coming.....

Actually I am trying to implement the original RISK game, and spending much time to figure out Lux Agents' behaviours but after some time as you said i noticed Pixie and Better Pixie's behaviour wasn't good at all. Whatever, thanks for your advice I will defitinely try them.!

EvilPixie vs. Pixie Race to 100 Games

Roster:
EvilPixie (x3)
Pixie (x3)

Maps played:
Classic Risk
Classic Part Deux: (Biohazard Extreme)
Roman Empire II

Image

(The percentage victory/played is off because it is accounting for 1 game=3 games because it is counting the number of times the bot appeared and I had 3 of each type in one game. Either way, though the sample size is small, it seems EvilPixie showed its superiority.)

(I could run tests on 6 bots duking it out, including Pixies, to see what happens, but I'm sure para has much better data on that than I do).

I've run over one million AI game tests on various map and setting combinations, using all nineteen of the major Lux bot types, and only one of each in every game. I'll post some of my findings in the next couple of weeks, but until then, to answer the original poster's question, lemme say I think some of the BetterPixie routines were later integrated into other bots, primarily Killbot if I remember correctly, but don't quote me on that. I'd have to look at the code before giving a definitive answer.

Exactly! On the other hand, if you download GameRanger you can play among other players. There are still hundreds of people playing it.

Here are some stats for those who care

Bots ranked by their Win Percentage
in gray are the ones who have too small of a game count or are in beta like sparrow (which is also heavily buggy)

Image
Stats as of Saturday 12:00 AM EST 9/21/2013

Please take note, that some bots such as reaper, killbot
and stooges (both versions with and without numbers)
are sometimes used multiple times within the same game,
so their win percentage is actually lower that in reality since
if one of them had won a game with 2 more bots of the same kind,
their win percentage would be 1/3 or 0.33 since it would count as 1 win and 2 loses

I would assume that this is most prevalent with stooges since there were many games
with multiple ones when para had first brought him out.
I wouldn't think there are as many games with multiple reapers and killbots in it.
you get the picture
