I tried it, and it seems to work. That is, he blacklisted me when I broke the alliance.
When you are blacklisted, he will try to kill you, even if it's not in his interest to do so. For example, he will do it even if he cannot cash with your cards.
Of course, if he can't kill you, then you will notice no difference. That's probably what happened in your game. |

another suggestion...
On the Classic Part Deux map, reaper played well, but in eastern part of the map, reaper was doing stupid things. Reaper managed to take the Australian continent. India is it's neighbour, and a continent itself, with 1 country only to defend, so reaper hit it... perfectly logical. But then reaper gave up Australia alltogether to fortify India.
Knowing that Australia had 4 or 5 countries and India only had 1, i think that is why reaper went for India, when in fact it did not recognise the chokepoint at Siam. Both continents only require one country to be fortified for security, and Australia had larger income... so I don't get why reaper chose to give up australia and fort India, with 2 less income.
Maybe this was a one-off, im not sure, but in case it isn't, you might want to check it out. |

Reaper is greedy: maybe he wanted both continents?
How many armies did he leave on Siam as a border defense? |

Are you sure that he had every country in Australia? Maybe he did not really have the continent?
To evaluate continents, Reaper looks at the ratio of the bonus and the number of borders. So in that case, Australia is more desirable than India, since they both have one border and Australia has a bigger bonus.
If he really had Australia and abandoned it, then it's a bug. |

| not a bug, some sort of exception. Maybe reaper was getting ready to kill for cards or something. Reaper held all of Australia. I had a big army in China, and one of the other bots was ruined and had 5 cards on offer, maybe it was that |

You have a good eye, Bomb. You found a real bug.
I managed to reproduce the situation you described, and saw Reaper abandon Australasia. There is a bug in his fortification logic, a typo in the program source.
(For all you programmers out there, I was using the continent instead of the country code as an index into an array. Amazing that the code could still work without producing a stack dump!)
The bug can manifest itself when Reaper owns two adjacent continents, and tries to fortify the common borders.
I'll have a fix ready for the next release of Reaper.
EDIT: BTW my name is spelled wrongly in your thread title....

| Oh mighty Bertrand, one time when I was playing, Reaper killed me even though I asked him not to. Can you fix this? |

Perhaps you didn't ask nicely enough? Or perhaps you could try groveling next time?
You're playing with the Reaper. It's his job to sow fear, destruction and death. What else were you expecting? |

This bug is now fixed in the newest release of Reaper, version 6.3.
He also plays better on large maps. On the USA war zone map, his win % increases by 16% compared to the previous version. |
