Simultaneous Risk Game-thread

Post by n00less cluebie » Thu Aug 14, 2008 11:25 am

Current Map as of 9/7/2008

Image
Initial Position:Image

Welcome to Simultaneous Risk. The numbers on the map represents the TOTAL number of armies in that continent (1 indicates a single army, not 2)

For a full list of rules consult this thread: http://sillysoft.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14995

We will have 2 movement turns, and 1 reinforcement turns per week
Note: There is NO Fortifications allowed in this game

A Movement turn will consist of ONE of the following:

1) Dispersal -- From one country the player may move armies OUT toany/all of the adjacent countries, leaving any or no armies in the original country:

2) Collection -- The player may move any combination of armies INTO one particular country, again leaving any or none armies in the countries being vacated. NOTE: You can collect your troops into either a territory you currently control, one that is EMPTY or one that is Enemy Controlled -- essentially you can use your move turn as a sort of fortification if you wish.

Please PM me your move for turn 1.

As an Example, MaW might send me a move as such

Subject: Collection into China
Body:
Siberia -> China: 2
Afghanistan -> China: 2
India -> China: 1

This move would have her out of siberia entirely, and with 1 army in Afganistan and India with the result in China to be determined by what Wontrob, and/or Groz are doing.

Note, for this first game, every person is playing for him or herself, so no teams, as they say in Highlander: "There can be only 1" However, if you want to make treaties, feel free to work out whatever you like. . . .

A non-submission of a move will leave all armies in their current locations, a non-submission of fortification will result in a LOSS of those additional armies

The game is afoot gentlepeoples. The first moves are due by Monday Morning 7:00 AM E.S.T. This is a MOVEMENT PHASE

For this first round, I will clarify the rules and help you figure out what is legal, and what is not, and help make sure you know what you are doing, so the sooner you can get some moves into me, the better. And if we're still having some confusion on Monday, if moves HAVE been submitted, I will extend the time to clear things up

As of Friday afternoon 4:15 PM EST 4 players have submitted moves. Still waiting on response from Groz and Wontrob....

OK. Move 1 is complete:
Image

EnjoyMoreRadio:
COLLECT (into Peru)
Brazil (-> Peru): 4 Armies

Nimrod7:
COLLECT (into Eastern US)
Western US (-> Eastern US): 3 Armies

MaW1028:
COLLECT (into India)
Afganistan (-> India): 3 Armies

Preacherman:
COLLECT (into Egypt)
Middle East (-> Egypt) 2 Armies
Southern Europe (-> Egypt) 3 Armies

TheWontrob: No Move
Grozoth: No Move

As there was no interaction between different armies this turn is straightforward. Next move is due Thursday at Noon EST. If Wontrob and Grozoth haven't moved on that turn, we'll look for subs.

This is a MOVEMENT phase (Collect or Disperse)

Thank you Wontrob for being a jerk :lol:

As for Turn 2, I have (at least preliminary) moves in from TheWontrob, Grozoth, and Preacherman.

editted Thursday:
Missing from EnjoyMoreRadio. Need clarification from MaW

Remember, the point of this game is for everyone to get a feel for the game and for us to figure out if it's something that's worth playing or not....

I'll give MaW another day to fix her move since she did submit on time. If EMR gets something in, so much the better.

Ha! An interesting turn:

Nimrod did a COLLECT (or Dispersal as only one country was involved)
Moving 3 from Great Britain into Scandinavia (unopposed)

Wontrob did a Collect (or Dispersal as only one country was involved) Moving 4 from New Guinea to Western Australia (unopposed)

Maw did a Collect INTO New Guinea:
Indonesia -> New Guinea (4 Armies)
Eastern Australia -> New Guinea (3 Armies)
However, upon her arrival, it seemed that all of Wontrobs troops had vacated the territory resulting in a bloodless coup.

Emr did a Dispersal from Peru into Argentina resulting in the following combat in Argentina
EMR (4) Vs Grozoth (3)
Grozoth loses 3, and EMR loses (2*3) - 4 = 2 loss
This results in EMR holding Argentina with 2 armies

Meanwhile:
Grozoth collected INTO Eastern Africa:
Congo -> Eastern Africa (4)
Madagascar -> Eastern Africa (4) => 12 Armies

and

Preacher ALSO collected into Eastern Africa:
South Africa -> Eastern Africa (3)
Egypt -> Eastern Africa (4)
North Africa -> Eastern Africa (4)

This results in a battle within Eastern Africa of 11 Attacking Preacher forces versus 12 defending Grozoth forces
Preacherman loses all his 11 attackers, and Grozoth loses (2*11) - 12 = 10 Armies
Resulting in Grozoth holding Eastern Africa with 2 armies....

We are now in an ARMY PLACEMENT phase. no one controls any continents, and no one has armies in more than 12 countries, so everyone gets 3 bonus armies to place in ANY COUNTRY THAT THEY ALREADY HAVE AT LEAST 1 ARMY IN (thus, no placing in any vacant country no matter WHAT color it shows on the map.)

Army Placement is due in by Sunday noon EST, or I will place them randomly.

I think it's moving too slowly to be honest n00less...give people a day they'll take 2, give them a week they'll take a fortnight, etc.

Image

Next move is a MOVEMENT phase, and all moves are due in on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM.

PLEASE NOTE: If anyone is interested in playing, Please submit a sample move for any (or all) of the colors on the map. If a player has NOT submitted his move in by the deadline, I will accept the move orders from ANY viable substitute as long as 1) none of the original players are subbing for another player 2) The substitute move appears to be simply a proxy for an active player (e.g. Sasquatch acting for Grozoth and suiciding EMR b/c he wubs Preach so much :-)

So let's get cracking!

Simultaneous Risk has died as we no longer have a quorum of people willing/able to make a move in the required twice-a-week format....>sigh<

If there is interest from people willing to stick to some sort of schedule I'll run in again....

I think the problem is the two week format. 2 days might have been better. When you look at it it you feel it is going to take about 2 years to finish 1 game.

Also only being able to move one thing at a time makes i even slower.

I'll play if you can make it a little faster.

I had a thought about speeding it up. How about if you can have a long term move.

For example, say that I have 8 armies in Greenland and I want to move them to Central America. I can say I want to move them through Quebec and Eastern U.S. Part one of that move would be moving them to Quebec, Part two would be Eastern U.S., and Part three would be Central America. If during any of those moves someone else was moving through the same country, you would have a battle.
