Mafia XXVI - "Werewolves' Revenge" - SIGNUPS
Mafia XXVI - "Werewolves' Revenge"
A twist on the mafia theme, this version will pit the innocent townsfolk of Luxtopia against a forest-dwelling pack of werewolves. I'm using similar rules to XXV - I've noted a few changes below.
Rules:
-Day cycles will last a maximum of 48 hours. Days will end immediately upon a lynching. Majority abstentions will NOT end a day (different from XXV).
-Night cycles will last a maximum of 24 hours or will end upon all night actions being complete.
-A lynching will occur upon a majority vote amongst remaining players. If the full day cycle expires, a plurality will decide the lynch victim. Tie votes will be decided by the first person to reach the final vote tally. The majority vote (the hammer) will be in effect - no votes after the hammer will count and prior votes can not be changed.
-Players will begin each day cycle with their vote cast as "abstain" (different from XXV). Players are free to abstain from voting.
-No talking in the thread at night! Anyone talking at night will fall in a pit in the forest.
-Those killed at night should not post in the game thread or reveal any game information.
-Roles will be revealed upon death.
-Do not quote PMs, especially any received from the game moderator.
-No editing posts! Anyone editing a post will fall in a pit.
-Due to possible double killing and/or kill-blocking roles, the game will not end until an entire side is eliminated!
-Game will start with a night cycle.
Possible Roles:
There may be zero, one or more of any of the following roles:
Win with the wolves:
Werewolf - regular wolf
Alpha wolf - decides night target for wolves, also chooses which wolf to send to do the killing. Can send themself or any other wolf. Is able to mask themselves and shows up "non-wolf" to the seer. (aka godfather)
Rabid wolf - can perform a separate night kill, however the target does not immediately die. The bitten villager will NOT be told they have been bitten and will die in two days time (the morning after the following night). If the shaman protects them during the following night, they will be healed. Must rest one night between kills. Can not Bite if sent to perform a wolf-kill.
Howlin' Wolf - has an ear-piercing howl that effectively prevents a player from going out at night and performing any action. Can not Howl if being sent to perform a wolf-kill. (new role for XXVi!)
Win with the town:
Villager - regular innocent townsfolk
Seer - can detect lycanthropy in one person during the night. Will be told "wolf" or "non-wolf". (aka sheriff)
Shaman - holds wolfsbane, can protect one person during the night. Can protect themself and can protect the same person in back to back nights. (aka doctor)
Jailkeeper - selects one person to "lock up" at night. Protects their target from any attack, but also prevents them from performing any night action. The jailkeeper can not lock up themself, and can choose to not lock up anyone.
Witch - holds 1 healing potion. The witch will be informed of any person about to be killed that morning and can use their potion to save them. Can use it on themself, but can not transfer the potion to anyone.
Child - spies on one person at night. If that person is killed, the child sees who did it. If they spy on a wolf, they get detected and killed. If a child is killed by being caught spying, the enraged town gets two lynchings the next day (back to back, not top two vote getters - day may be extended in this case).
Outsider - due to their location on the outskirts of town, the outsider shows up as "wolf" to the seer. Does not know they are an outsider (told regular villager).
Woodcutter - if lynched during the day, they automatically kill the hammer voter.
Hunter - has the ability to perform their own night kill (aka vigilante)
Oracle - is informed during the night how many wolves were involved in the prior day's lynching.
Friendly Neighbor - once during the game can send a moderator-messaged friendly greeting that confirms their town-allegiance to their selected target.
Tracker - follows one person at night, learns if they performed any night action (and upon whom). Will not see any blocked actions. Does not know what action was performed.
Night Watchman - watches one person and learns if anyone performs a night action upon them (and who). Will not see any blocked actions. Does not know what action was performed.
Shaman's Apprentice - assumes the role of shaman upon the shaman's death.
Seer's Apprentice - assumes the role/results of seer upon the seer's death.
Which roles and how many will be decided based on the number of players that sign up. Specific roles and their numbers will not be revealed.

yeah, I probably won't do the oracle unless we get a lot of players and we end up with quite a few wolves. Getting results like "4 wolves were in the lynching" out of 12 people, with 10 not involved...how useful is that, really?
But when you hear "2 of the 6" or "1 of the 4", it gets more obvious.
Maybe the oracle should act more like the witch and can consult their "oracle" a couple times only during the game? So on critical votes they could get info?
Of course having a way to reveal the info you deduce as the oracle is the important part.

do people like the "child" role as is? I was thinking of tweaking it so the child is only caught/killed if they are spying on a wolf who is performing an attack (kill/bite) - and if they happen to spy a wolf who is silent at night they don't get detected. This makes their info a little less certain - no longer "100% innocent if I don't die".
Thoughts?
Thoughts?
