Hi Dustin,

Just ran the Lux-installer jarball under linux emulation on a FreeBSD 4.10 machine. Sadly, it was unhappy:

venus# /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/bin/java -jar Lux-install.jar
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Can't detect initial thread stack location
java.io.IOException: No such file or directory

at java.io.File.checkAndCreate(File.java:1314)
at java.io.File.createTempFile(File.java:1402)
at com.izforge.izpack.installer.ScriptParser.parseFiles(Unknown Source)
at com.izforge.izpack.installer.Unpacker.run(Unknown Source)
Lux installer -> Running on a non-windows system. Registry info cannot be added.
Run Lux Now Was Selected
Lux installer: failed to run Lux on closing. This feature is not supported on some systems.
venus#

After editing the Lux.bat file, I was able to call it up. You might consider adding this file to your installer manifest:

Lux.sh << __done__
#! /bin/sh
cd /usr/local/Lux
java -jar LuxCore.jar $1
__done__

Not sure what your installer allows, but the file should be chmod'd 755.
In the readme, note that if running under Linux emulation on FreeBSD, the path to the java vm might need to be set explicitly if not in the $PATH variable (it is generally found at /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/bin/java).

HTH,

Are you peeking at the clipboard/buffer?

I ran Lux under FreeBSD and got the nag screen. Said hmph, and went and found my registration code. Highlight/Copy. Move over to the FreeBSD window (VNC server) and restart Lux.

Wander around for several minutes, trying to find the 'register Lux' menu option. Can't find it. Finally give up, get ready to file a bug report. Quit Lux...and don't get the nag screen. Instead, I get the 'Thank you for supporting independant software' message.

Bizaaaarrrrre *waggles fingers to note eerieness of the experience*

Thanks for the report. I will definitely put a Lux.sh into the package. There's a little bit of black magic done for registrations under linux/BSD systems that hasn't been extensively tested.
