Dude - I've already got plans for the total solar eclipse in 2017. Does that tell you anything?
If the Mayans knew shit, they wouldn't be extinct. |

| Maybe if the Spanish hadn't wiped 'em all out, the Mayans coulda completed their calendar. |

the worst that will happen is that there'll be riots on the streets because some of the "world ending" nuts cause them. The world's not ending. No matter how many times people have said it will. I mean, in the past ten years, like 15?

| The Mayan's never ever said the world would end at that time. Its just the end of their calendar! If they were still around they would make a new one by now. |

Sorry everyone, but the world will end this year. Nothing you can do about it, again sorry about that. Do all those things you always wanted to do this year, or die with unfullfilled expectations.
Again I am sorry about this.......

“There have been about 514 Leap Years since Caesar created it in 45BC. Without the extra day every 4 years, today would be July 28, 2013. Also, the Mayan calendar did not account for leap year…so technically the world should have ended 7 months ago.”

I am impressed with some of the comments on here. Still....it's only a matter of time before my masters come back for me. I have seen the signs that their return is near. I just have to hold on tight and soon I'll be off this alien-forsaken planet.
By the way...what do you all say we have a marathon on LUX on the night of Dec. 21st! Would be fun. But wait! Some of you will already be dead. No? |

The Mayan Calendar: 1 yr = 365.2422 days
The Atomic Clock: 1 yr = 365.2420 days (which admittedly could be +/- .0005 wrong)
So the "experts" are not sure who is more accurate.

Many cultures referred to this as the Great Cycle... the Maya, Hopi, Egyptians, Chinese, Kabbalists, Essenes, Navajo, Cherokee, Apache, Iroquois, Dogon, and Aborigines. It's the end of one age and the dawning of another according to them. |

Brother drifter has it right. We at the Llustrious Order of the Lluminated Llama have long known that certain ancient technologies rival or even surpass modern ones. The problem is that you silly humans play "whisper down the lane" back through hundreds and thousands of years and think you are getting the original meaning. Have you ever known a message to go through 6 people and come out the same? Do you expect and ancient artifact to come with an instruction manual made for YOU?
The Llamas have traditions that go back 2 million years when we mostly crossed the great genetic divide and became distinct from other camelids.
Our ways are wise and ancient and passed down from generation to generation. Needless to say they are almost completely but not entirely unlike whatever the hell Llamas were doing 2 million years ago. What is important is that we keep passing SOMETHING down. What's important is that we keep coming up with excuses...I mean explinations for the continuation of our proud culture one short attention span at a time. What got me started on this?
Oh yeah. Most cultures old enough to notice describe the world/universe in cycles that themselves work in cycles. Sometimes a Llama bends down to pick up something shiny and misses a cycle. But we know the next one will pick us up. We just hope it is not the spin cycle. It makes our wool all staticky.
The Mayan Calendar: 1 yr = 365.2422 days
The Atomic Clock: 1 yr = 365.2420 days (which admittedly could be +/- .0005 wrong)
So the "experts" are not sure who is more accurate.

According to the following quotations, the only thing we don't have to worry about is red-nosed Llamas.....
Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
Mayor: I get the point!

Turns out all is calm on the western front, regarding the Mayans.
In addition, Apophis asteroid has been reevaluated and is seen as almost no threat.
The best chance for the end of human civilzation on Earth is (29075) 1950 DA asteroid. It has a 0-0.33% chance of impacting Earth in 2880 with possible apocalyptic effects.
(You'll have to be heralding a bit longer, Stelee.) |

| Way to go Rhye. Somewhere in the future about 865 years from now everyone will panic because the ancient Luxxens said the world is gonna end... |

| Let's be honest. Humans have a far greater chance of annihilating ourselves or being exterminated by the damage we have done to our planet than we do of surviving until 2880. |

That is why scientists are trying to create a Human Cockaroach hybrid right now, Millty. They are already amongst us. You know that guy who smells a little funny, wears sandals and shorts even in the winter, and has a perpetuayl frowning face with a nose that looks like putty?
Hybrid.
Always coughs like she's dying but never gets sick? 97 years old and still smokes and laughs at the wrong parts of jokes?
