Those kinda stats were made to be broken!

Razz

Not this time buddy!!!

Even though Germany went into the game as raging favourites, this new-look Italy side actually made Germany look second-rate.....it is not often that Germany are out-played, but today they were..... maybe Germany were 5% off their game, but maybe Italy's intensity, especially in the midfield where Pirlo pulled all the strings and De Rossi tackles like a man possessed....and "Super Mario" Balotelli with 2 magnificent finishes, especially the 2nd, a thunderbolt from 20 yards which even had the German Keeper applauding......the streak continues against Germany, and now we have a Final which is prolly deserving of the way that the games have gone.....

I said i thought it would be the best game of the tourney and i was not wrong......very free-flowing game, lots of good shots, clean tackling, and the match was played in very fine spirits from both countries.......Germany may rue not playin Mueller and Klose from the start, Gomez was rubbish in the 1st half and Bastian Swienstieger (sorry spelling) had possibly his worst game in a German shirt i have ever seen. him play

coach Prandelli must be applauded for taking an Italian team which so miserably exited the 2010 World Cup, and with all the match-fixing dramas, he has moulded a team which has worked for each other, and has played the most attractive Football that i have ever seen Italy play in my 30 odd years of watching them play Internationals....he must be given a lot of the credit.......

i am hoping obviously for an Italian victory over Spain in the final, and judging on the form of both teams after their respective semi's, anything is truly possible!!!

There is a reason Ronaldo rarely ever takes penalty shots.
If you are looking for a skillful athlete, he's your guy. if you are looking for a penalty taker, look elsewhere.

Regardless, Spain deserved to win that one.

As for today.

Forca Italia!!!!!

Sorry enokrad, but i totally disagree....ronaldo always took the penalties when he was playing for Manchester United, and he always takes the penalties when he plays for his current team, Real Madrid...In the Champion's league semi finals only a month ago, he also took a penalty against Bayern Munich, so to say he rarely takes penalty shots...well, nothing is further from the truth.

My theory is because Ronaldo is such a glory hunter, he wanted to be the man who took the 5th and final penalty, so, in case Spain missed one, he would look like Portugals's hero....only it backfired badly against him, as they never got to the 5th kick.

i agree, as far as i know Ronaldo only missed 3 penalties this season.

Ronaldo asked the coach that he wanted to go first but the coach wanted him last. This is what Ronaldo said in an interview.

Good luck Italy!

I hope they win but i think Spain will. Who would have thought that Italy come back that hard after their first game when they lost from Russia with 3- 0

Italy is a great functional team now with a super coach. They have played un-Italian football these weeks which lead them to finals.

Sport, is in many ways, like life itself. You always want to win, to succeed, yet know that the "balance" of the way things are, does not mean that you can always succeed.........therefore, you must also learn how to lose graciously.

I have always had a problem with my sporting teams, or myself, losing when we have not put in 100%......a lack of effort, even 5% is just not acceptable, as we have not given ourselves the best chance we can. AND, if you lose by the person or team when you have put in 100%, well, you can only clap you hands, appreciate their effort, and make sure you can learn positively from the experience.

I found myself clapping at each and every 1 of Spain's goals yesterday.....i applauded their passing, their movement of the ball, their work rate, their skill and precision.....i found myself in awe at possibly the greatest Fooballing XI that the World has ever seen. This Italian side was not the best XI they have ever put together.......far from it, yet it was a side brilliantly coached, a side which got the best out of itself for much of the tourney, a side that made the mighty Germans look inadequate, the English look like a shambles, yet the gulf between them and this great Spanish side was so evident on the 2nd biggest night in World Football that there is, and the Italians were humbled by the far better team. The look of admiration on Buffon's face, possibly the greatest goalkeeper the World has ever seen, was incredible; here is man who has lifted the World cup himself, yet looked like a little school-boy, in absolute awe of these Spanish players......it really showed the gulf between the best and the also-rans atm......and to think they turned it on like a would turn a switch on im my house, it was such an incredible turn-around in form from them in the semi's

If this Spanish team does not come out and win the next World cup, i will swim the length of our mighty Murray river....they are that good, that classy, that back to back World cups is justified, if only that the record books can show the next generations how good they really are.....

We had a clear result and Spain deserved the win. A great team.

Germany as youngest team was not hard-nosed enough vs. Italy.

But in the next challenge there will be a chance, I hope.
