No. They are not. You yourself — LINK — have seven ID numbers.
(And seven doesn't account for all of the aliases of your multiregs.) |
Oh I forgot! Now it is again my fault that Dustin donated me some free regs as payment for some translation work I did?
I only hope that you have access to the database of Dustins accountancy as well. Just nose into and you will find out that "Baden" was a very good client. He did not only pay for accounts he even made donations. In one case for a petitioner.
Should I get more concrete?
I did not invent alias or "multireg". Don't blame the customers for. |

Why are you ruining another forum discussion with your nonsense?
You asked a question — "40.000 ID's are not 40.000 regs?" — and I gave you an answer.
Your Baden account — and only your Baden account — has 7 ID numbers.
In other words: Every alias has a unique ID number. Every registration can be linked to multiple aliases.
(If I include your other accounts, then you have 36 different ID numbers.) |

And how many ID numbers do you have?

I guess theoretically the entire history of Lux is in the graph. You could post some really enlightening information if you so chose. I for one am certain that me joining Lux in the summer of '07 directly brought on the huge upswing of Lux gamers visible in 2008 . |

| if you have the data I'd also be interested in seeing how many unique players played per week, not sure if that can get separated from aliases or not. |

Back to the facts.
This multireg and alias stuff caused a lot of trouble. But it must have been useful for some time as a marketing instrument? |

| I like having aliases. My name would be "kleef" if not for aliases. None of us would have had the joy of knowing "Llux Llama". I know I am better for it. |

(All graphs can be clicked for enlargements.)
This graph's signal to noise ratio is a little high. Basically, any account that plays online is considered "active." That could be one twitch game against four bots, or it could be one hundred full house castle marathons. Both accounts would be considered equally "active" for the purposes of this graph. Personally, I think it would be more relevant if there was a minimum threshold like "at least one hour online with three unique opponents," but that would require additional data-fu. Also, I'm only 90% confident that my alias / registration linkage is correct. There's a fair amount of goofy stuff in the Lux database, but that's a much longer post for another time.

| Llama: Baden wasn't referring to aliases as you understand them. He was referring to a time in ancient Lux history when alias info wasn't publicly available, and players were able to maintain multiple names and scores on the leaderboard simultaneously. In other words, it was just like multiregging without the inconvenience and expense of having to buy extra accounts. And, IMHO, no, multiregs and hidden aliases served no valuable "marketing" purpose whatsoever. Any "benefit" of falsely inflated user numbers was vastly outweighed by the corrosive effect that doppelgängers had upon the social fabric of the community, as well as the integrity of the competitive rankings. |

I agree. You described it well. But I was one of the few idiots obviously who payed for several accounts.
To "inflate" user numbers was not an idea of the users.
What formerly was legal became illegal. All my nice and friendly alias were suddenly "publicly available". So these nice characters I installed vanished.
Only "K-SWISS" (my son who introduced me to the game) was no "doppelgänger" and one of the few players with three-digit reg. Banning him was a fault.
But he does not care. In his actual profession as manager (related to "billing" of contents like LUX) today he smiles about these early days and has no time to play online games.
But we talked about that stuff lately and he remembered and praised you, Para.

Let's be honest here. While I do admit he did buy the game on his own and introduced you to this game, his banning was your fault because you took over the account. You and I discussed this before I drove the last nail in the coffin. |
