Twitch Quick-Lux Tournament :: Extended till Wednesday

Post by dustin » Mon Sep 21, 2015 9:57 pm

To the fastest gunslinger goes the spoils!

Come on out during the October 2-4th weekend for the Twitch Quick-Lux Tournament, ramping up your favorite maps with high speed turns!

I hope you can clicky quickly!

Join the "FEST" online host anytime during the weekend to participate. Games with 5 or 6 humans will count towards your tournament score, with a minimum of 5 games required. Official scoring will be posted before the event starts, and a live leaderboard will be available during the event :)

Here's the shiny bling that will be awarded to the winners:

I would like to recommend hosting classic twitch, re2 twitch, IRE & rise of Sparta twitch or hot gates. Bio is cool & all but really do we need 98% of all maps played online to be bio? for the corpse of :lincoln: 's Sanity please change up the maps for this tourney

OK, yea, planning to switch the rooms up throughout the weekend. Starting with BIO to get people comfortable with TWITCHING!

I raised the minimum games required to be 5, since games are so fast.

Here's the live leaderboard!

It seems the twitch tracker lost one of my games. I should have three games, with two wins.

Apparently only 5- and 6-player games "count".

I played THIRTY TWO games in the twitch room this morning, and won 16 of them. Sadly, only one of them had 5 players. This is why these tourneys have never really interested me - takes way too much time invested to compete, and if MY times to play don't match the crowd's, I'm irrelevant anyway.

yes, 15 seconds is a long timer for bio. should be 8. Too much hand holding with that one.

Hmm, my hosts are intermittently not showing up it the tracker it looks like, even tho they are online and running. I'm not sure why yet. If you don't see any hosts on the tracker, try entering this address into the "Private game address" field at the bottom of the Join a Network Game window:

My FEST rooms are back online again. 1 of them as a ROME 2 room.

Whirl's room will also count in the TWITCH tourney results. ANy games with 5 or more humans played there, if people are wanting to Cube Wars twitch it up!

Switched my settings (as suggested by phone support) to 18 seconds, and I eliminated reaper and replaced him with cluster.

Matt :-) you are looking for this?
Official tourney hosts seem to be broken actually. See also viewtopic.php?f=27&t=25901.

hey guys, sorry for the host problems.

I'm going to extend the twitch tournament until the end of Wednesday to compensate, and give a bit of extra time to figure out a proper solution.

So - what was the problem? Was it a technical issue? Was it sabotage? Did you do it to make it look like sabotage? Put the rumours to rest, please.

Do you take breaks from reading tabloids and watching soap operas to come post here?

Thanks a lot GFips! I don't know how i missed it! It's a bummer that the tracker seems wrecked. kind of kills a tourney.

I can multitask. :D

And, I am just asking the questions that others have been asking for two days in PMs and game rooms. Call me what you want--I, at least, am willing to ask in public what others are asking in private.

Sorry for all the troubles. I tried my best to keep up a twitch host while all other hosts were broken. After Dustin and his hosts were back, i switched back to "normal" settings so that not all hosts were twitch (many people were complaining that they don't want to Play twitch only). Sadly the tracker did not realize the new description and settings and still displayed the Prior settings ... . I saw no need to keep a twitch room after Dustin was back and announced that the tourney will run longer ... (probably the twitch results in my room won't count anyway to the tourney).

Also big thanks to Bean, who also offered a (Expletus) twitch room in the meantime.

Dear Dustin,

You servers and lack of ability to control them are pooping out these tournaments big time and it looks pretty feeble post Para-topia dominus totus. Please get it together soon or hire someone else who can act in your stead. Sincerely, everyone (or seemingly everyone. Feel free to object if you disagree with the above statement.)

Lest the Plebs rise up against your quasi-quasar celestial stature and burn the ruins of your MOTW to ashes and salt the earth with dice that only land on 1, and steal scooter in the night, because he deserves better than to swim in these tainted waters,
Please and thank you,
Sincerely serious about being sincere-ish,

Matt

P.S. We the caring members of luxtopia will totally bring you to court for custody of scooter. He's a good hearted reptile and there are very few of the cold blooded nature of which that can be said.

Who tries to play tournament games on a buggy ten-year-old program might end up disappointed. Even mega-host para would have last-minute bugs to work out during his tournaments. Ironing them out requires active, competent hosting.

I find it amusing that para can be run out of town and then used as a scapegoat, like Snowball or Emmanuel Goldstein in an Orwell novel.
