|
|
Saturday and Sunday October 21 and 22, Team Play Games!!
8 PM GMT / 4 PM Eastern / 1 PM Pacific on both days
Team Play games will consist of games with 3 players versus 3 players, or 2 versus 2 versus 2.
It will go on for about 3 hours, so it's OK to show up somewhat late to this event and still join in. You don't have to be on a team already to play. Just show up and you'll get put on a team if needed.
Scoring will be figured out on the weekend...

So, is this going to be like luxtoberfest last year where you play with a partner or trio, or are you suggesting that it will somhow mirror the existing team structures?
If the former I'm sure my good lady and I can find time to put up a challenge in the 2v2v2 format. |

It is a League team Play.
LCS members are needed to show their best once more!

The pretty, pretty flower will be unable to attend, as I have an exorcism scheduled on both nights. Kurtz will be unable to make it as well. Same reason, different purpose.
It will look a little something like this. Kurtz is the one on the right as you look at the monitor:

We had a great batch of team games today. I've updated the Team Rankings page so for now it's just showing games played during the Luxtoberfest Team Event:
http://sillysoft.net/lux/rankings/team/
The Raw Whores were dominating early on.
Seduction heated up later on and grabbed the lead.
My Finger Slipped had a good turn-out and slipped their way into some wins.
10 Monkeys maintained a good average in the games that they played.
Notice: I have merged the old MFA team into A New Day. Hopefully we'll get some players from AND and LCS showing up tomorrow.
PS: A bunch of new players were put onto teams today. If you want to check out the Team world, just show up tomorrow and I'll put you onto a team (you must have played 100 games to get put onto a team).

| Good job merging the teams, dustin. I think that AND sort of lost its...unity....or team spirit or something. We had a hard time getting members to play. |

You have done a marvellous job in running all the luxtoberfest nights, sadly due to the timing of many of these, I have been unable to play. I was a little disappointed to find that the team night was not along the same format as 2006, with new duo's and trios being set up for the night.
Especially as none of the original LCS line up are involved anymore. I won't be able to make it tonight but wish everyone all the best, especially if any LCS players make it along. |

The two merged teams for reference:
Team : A New Day
Grozoth
Loki
Elisaelli
Golgi
Alexander_The_Great
documan
KingPatrick
Vidar
Eowyn
The South African
Team :The Men From Aunty
Naps
Laney6969
Iggy
Markymark
Gabo
Noah
France
BlackPanther?
Not sure what the new team is called (one or the other?) or where we can administer team settings, descriptions, etc. Is there a team captain??? I woud still elect Grozoth who was the leader of AND, but whatever... I would also be happy to serve.

I don't want to sound a bad whiner or anything (despite the fact that I Komplain a lot!) but I think that LCS is facing a great injustice:
Most of RW wins are on a 3v3 games (against same team!!) where you can win more points.
So Average total should take THAT into consideration cause LCS won 9 out of 15 while RW won 16 out of 30 so the average of winning is clearly to the advantage of LCS while points made the difference.
Can it be calculated differently?
if not gg and congrat to winners! |

Congrats to the Raw Whores, Sorry I only made two games. My connection was horribly funky last night and dropping out of team gmes is not an easy thing to contend with.

it was fun and congrats to all who took part, especially the hosts as with 20 players or so in the room it is highly stressful trying to organise and appease everybody...
... big thumbs up to Dustin, Glow and Documan for hosting!!

Anything constructive in that... michelle? Or should I consider it a stupid out-of-context cynical cheap reply?
Whoever the winner is I say Congrat, and I already thanked the hosts and their great efforts to make this enjoyable.
However the calculation is wrong, whether you want to make fun of it or not!

Maybe that's something you have to bring up beforehand, if it's such a "great injustice", rather than when it looks like you're trying to weasel a win... |

I don't believe K was trying to weasel a win, I think he was very gracious in defeat but was simply stating the obvious. The kind of obvious comment I had to contend with every single day that I hosted team games. I won't for one second complain about the set up, It will always favour 3v3 games and the simple truth was LCS couldnt pull enough players in that format. Had I been around we'd surely have managed more games and possibly managed a few more wins. That said, I think K makes a valid point about the allocations and it is worthy of consideration if the team format is ever going to get beyond its infancy.
I say again, well done to The Raw Whores and well done to General K for making a reasonable point fairly. |

And why would I do that?
Why do you feel the urge to twist an issue I am stating into a negative personal attack on me?
Is it wrong now to state a wrong calculation method in the forum?
Is it wrong to highlight a problem?
Is it wrong to fight for a cause that I see just?
This post has nothing to do with your personal opinion about me. I find it seriously cheap to divert the essence of the problem into a personal vendetta!
Besides, LCS is not only me; there are dozens of fine members! So either you reply with a constructive solution or ZIP IT PLEASE!

Did I say you were trying to weasel a win, or did I say it looks like it when you don't bring up something you see as a terrible injustice until after it affects you? And then you complain when people notice that? And then you call it a personal attack when people call you on it?
We had the rules laid out beforehand. That's the time to talk about it. A qualified congrats isn't a congrats, it's bs and everyone knows it.
hoodie is done with this.

Below is what Dustin wrote in the 1st page of this thread:
| Dustin wrote: | | Scoring will be figured out on the weekend... |
So it was a surprise since scoring was a mystery until this morning!
I suggest all games should have same total of maximum points that a team can get, which means in a 3v3 game, 6 points should be won by 1st and 2nd while 3rd player of same team gets 0 rather than 1.
I think that suggestion makes the team rank more accurate and balanced. |

I agree m, that sometimes it seems GK wants the win so bad he will look for anything wrong, but...the system on who plays in what games needs to be consistent, when i was playing, nietz pointed out that dustin put his team in twice and kept nietz out for 3 games in a row with 5 of his team mates waiting, dustin responded that he has kept the winning team in the next game "almost every time" but K and i won 2 games and were out both times in the following game. i would just like to see the teams who didnt play along with the lower placing teams from previous game, playing so everyone gets a fair chance. |

in the beginning i thought i should gather the different quotes together to underline what i think about the discussion more precisely, but in the end i think it wont do much difference so i just want to say this:
although i feel that K is likely to overreact to "injustice" he thinks hes a victim of, i have to say that he brought forward his opinion in a very sportsmanlike and justified manner. i think his argument has a point, and i think he is right in feeling that his questions havent been answered in a way they - imho - deserve...
especially - but not exclusively - for someone being a moderator i think it is necessary to take care that statements being made are based on correct information as much as to adopt a moderate attitude rather than an irate one.
