Couldn't have said it better. The opinon is not a lot different throughout the rest of the world.

What gets me, is that you could have put those same two candidates up against one another on any other country on the planet, and Kerry would have won hands down.

Only in America...

Doh! is absolutely right on.

Clearly, we deserve it. America is going to pay while, unfortunately, the rest of the world will suffer for it. Sorry, we tried our best.

Just remember: There is no Mandate. There is no Unity

Actually, from what I read there were at least 2 other countries where Bush would have won. They were Russia and Israel.

That doesn't surpirse me in the least ulfy. I had made that observation already simply from the way people write and express themselves and their opinions. Have read all four pages of comments here (the links to the other pages are at the end), opinions from all sorts of people from all over the world...what is clear is that there is a clear division between the way people voted (or would have, if they could have) and their ability to express themselves in an intelligent, well formulated manner when they need to.

Indeed a conspiracy...who counted the votes anyway?

The Bush administration try to illustrate themselves as placing "morals" and "values" as top priorities.

In the USA we have an authoritarian, powermonger disguising itsself as a theocracy.

sick sick sick

These guys (the Bush Admin) are a Plutocracy if I ever saw one.

Actually, I think Kerry shot himself in the foot a couple of times and has to take responsibility for losing.
Kerry should have never brought up the VP's gay daughter in the debates when the question was about civil marriage--it totally rallied the right wing moralists and it allowed the Right to redirect focus from real issues like the war and the economy.
Also, every time Kerry had Bush against the ropes with the war, the missing explosives, the deficit, (etc) he over-intellectualized his point while Bush would counter with one of his smirking knee-jerk one-liners that "folks" can relate to and the media could broadcast.

guys, why do you call all people who voted bush "dumb" just because of who they voted for. It is sad that the democrats and liberals are being such immature sore losers by saying that just because 52% of america voted for Bush means that they are "dumb". You guys are so immature complaining about him, just let him be a president there is nothing you can do to stop it by whining on a forum and critizising all Bush supporters and calling them dumb.

Good point L33t, we should not result to name calling it is immature. However, the conservatives and republicans do the same thing...remember Clinton. It's just that for those of us that view Bush in a different light we see a much more evil and arrogant human being. We see facts, and we see Conservatives and Republicans turning a blind eye and deaf ear to those facts and it scares the hell out of us.

"Dissent is the highest form of Patriotism" --Thomas Jefferson

It is our duty as citizens of this country and residents of this world to criticize and question authority in order to make sure that it is heading in the right direction.

One reason Conservatives want to discount the media and attack our education system is because the truth shows how wrong and perverse the right truly is. An aristocracy, a minority with an amazing amount of power for the few.

This is war. In 2 years the American people should wake up and vote the neocons out. You cannot run a country on fear and disception for too long. Hence the beauty of democracy.

oops ... maybe dustin can delete the above duplicate ..

Here's another couple of maps for you ... Compare the first map (2004 Presidential Election results by state), with the second map (a Pre-civil War break down of US states that did or did not support slavery).

Dustin and robs map are remarkably and frighteningly similar.

Maybe Lincoln should have let the south secede after all.
