| It needs a newer version of Java than I have, and I'm still running OS 10.3.9 so I can't upgrade Java any further |

I doubt it. Don't worry Sun, no problem on your end. It's the same reason I can't use the new map generators or the Sparrow bot.

As near as I can figure out, the best strategy would be to find somewhere where a Defender has one country that is far away from all its other countries, and get that country. That Defender rampages across other countries to get to it, which starts a chain reaction of Defenders having to go out of their ways to get their own countries back since the first defender took them, which leads to other Defenders doing the same thing, and it sort of snowballs.
Of course, some of your own countries might be caught in the crossfire, but overall, I think playing against 5 defenders is actually easier than playing against just 1. |

| Looking forward to seeing maps that enhance Defenders special abilities. That way Defender can get around the down side of him not actively attacking other players other than to retrieve his previously lost land. At this point his biggest weakness his his lack of income to bolster his ability to defend himself. |

There aren't any maps that can enhance Defedner's ability, only starting scenarios that give him a decent income that he can fully protect himself as a neutral player.
The maps that I'm currently working on, however, won't be utilizing Defender because I'm aiming for advanced starting scenarios. |
