I've missed it and decided to wait until they either replay it or sell the DVD. Almost every person I've talked to who's seen it has told me its beyond incredible.

The DVD

I just started on episode #5 tonite, amazing. Over 17,000 soldiers lost on Operation Market Garden alone in nine days. I do believe todays generation is spoiled.

Most definitely. Imagine how the war might have turned out if there were embedded reporters with units and FDR hadn't restricted the press.

The final episode really put the decision to use the atomic bomb in context.

Watching (and have read about) the battle of Okinawa makes it clear to me that using the atomic bomb was then, and still remains, the correct decision--as horrific as it was.

As for the series...I would have prefered some (not a lot, but some) German and Japanese soldier accounts of some of the battles. The footage and photos are in a word, fantastic. It's Ken Burns best work IMHO.
