Since I am still facing problems with my DSL (I am hoping for a last minute save), Scad (to whom I am extremely grateful) has accepted to co-host the event tomorrow as scheduled.
So I will be the referee and will make the calls, Scad (who will be playing) will simply assist me in executing those calls fairly since he has the hosting powers.

Please make sure you upload the map theme before you join the room.
Tomorrow's host will start at 12:30 noon East time (6:30pm central europe, 5:30 pm portugal, 7:30pm Middle East, midnight Japan-Oz) and will last for 4 hours.
The first teams to be present will kick off the competition.

Here's a reminder on the basic rules and regulations:

- A captain needs to represent his team before the game
- Before the game starts the players of the 2 competing teams will have to answer a football (soccer) related question. The fastest to answer will allow his team the start advantage.
- The competition will only be in Lux Soccer Team Play map.
- Card values 5,5,5
- 3v3 games
- Each game period is 15 minutes
- The objective is to score as much Goals as possible (check the Soccer Team play map)
- After each goal scored the game will reset, and the match will continue with the remaining time.
It means that during the 15 minutes you need to pop the other team's goal as much as possible. Those are the basic rules of football (soccer).
- Elimination of other players is allowed, if possible before any goal is scored. Once a goal is scored and since the game will rs, the eliminated player needs to be replaced with a substitute, otherwise the game will continue with 3 v 2 (1 player missing).
- Any team that fails to be properly represented will be considered forfeit from the remaining games.

6 Teams are formed:

- Team Dragon: Scad - Drifter - pls - Yo daddy - Sylocat
- Team Pouncing Purple Puma: Dominator - Ender_Wiggin - Archer - Eice - Super Good
- Team pheonix: Golfmannen - Frost - Petty - Nietzsche - Alexander Great
- Team Badger: enjoymoreradio - Schnoober - Grozoth - The - Baden
- Team America: Goten6454 - RCrum - Killercatfish - Legend - MaW1028
- Team Europe: qwert1965 - Djdee - Markwolf - Smondo - trinkett

The following system will be adopted:

All 6 teams will compete in a league, so the total of 15 games based on the below pointing system:

Win = 3 points
Tie = 1 point
loss = 0 points

Each team will have to play 1 game against the remaining 5.
Top of the pool will be announced winner followed by silver and bronze.

Trophies:

Gold Cup:

Silver:

Bronze:

The Runner up Plate:

We have unfortunately a tight schedule since Scad cannot exceed this time frame so for this to work I urge you all to be there on time we cannot afford to lose time waiting for players to join!

Good Luck for the 6 teams!

Let's Party!

That sounds pretty cool!

Can those of us that aren't on a team like watch?
I don't recall seeing this until now, so I'm not on a team, but could I still come and watch?

I'm going to assume that it would be ok... ish

I will not be able to make pretty much anything tomorrow. I can make the first game (12:30-12:45) if it is that time EXACTLY or a little earlier. I need to leave my house at 5 till 1. Then I am at school until 4 when I am leaving directly to go do work.

Since some players wont make it... I will allow the captains of each team to replace the missing players with those who are interested in joining the tournament (SuperGood, Eice etc...)

Here's the update from the tourrney:

So far 4 teams has competed fiercely in 5 great games and teh competition is still on going.

- Team pheonix: Golfmannen - Frost - Petty - Nietzsche - Alexander Great
- Team Badger: enjoymoreradio - Schnoober - Grozoth - The - Baden - Mika - TRU - Spiderman
- Team America: Goten6454 - RCrum - Killercatfish - Legend - MaW1028
- Team Europe: qwert1965 - Djdee - Markwolf - Smondo - trinkett - Turnipslaya

The games results were as follows:

- Team Dragon vs Team PPP - Result: 1-0 scorers: Scad

Team Badger: 3 points out of 2 games

Team America and Pheonix still needs to show up.

Wow... that was so nice TRU :/

They did a thing where you answered a question to see who went first, how is that not fair?
It's not like it made you automatically lose...

It was there for most all of it, watching or the game I played, and it was all done as fair as it could be.
Someone is always going to go first, and if you alter it you could still lose every game.

It was an awesome idea, very well done, and GK AND SCAD ROCK FOR IT!

TurnipSlaya clubs TRU over head with Femur of Participation for being a poor sport and pours beer over Gold Cup and drinks it

FINAL RESULTS AND FINAL STANDINGS:

The games results were as follows:

Game 1: Team Dragon vs Team PPP - Result: 1-0 scorers: Scad
players: Dragon (Scad - pls - To Daddy) PPP (Zuss - SuperGood - Newbslaya)

Game 2: Team Dragon vs Team Badger - Result: 0-1 scorers: TRU
players: Dragon (Scad - Yodaddy - Drifter) Badger (Spiderman - Mika - Tru)

Game 3: Team Dragon vs Team Europe - Result: 0-1 scorers: Qwert
players: Dragon (Scad- Yo Daddy - Drifter) Europe (Qwert - Markwolf - Turnipslaya)

Game 4: Team PPP vs Team Badger - Result: 1-0 scorers: Zuss
players: PPP (Zuss - ender - supergood) - Badger: (TRU - mika - spiderman)
Yellow Card: Tru for adding in his own goal

Game 5: Team PPP vs Team Europe - Result: 1-1 scorers: Zuss - Qwert
players: PPP (Zuss - Eice - Newbslaya) - Europe (Qwert - Markwolf - Turnipslaya)

Game 6: Team Badger vs Team Europe - Result: 0-1 scorers: Markwolf
players: Badger (spiderman - Kleef - TRU) Team Europe (qwert - Markwolf - Turnipslaya)

So the Final Standing was:

Team Europe: 7 points out of 3 games
Team PPP : 4 points out of 3 games
Team Dragon: 3 points out of 3 games
Team Badger: 3 points out of 3 games

with a tie in the bottom of the pool a game for the Bronze medal was played:

Bronze game: Team Dragon vs Team Badger - Result:2-1 scorers: Mika - Drifter(2)
players: Dragon (Scad - pls - Drifter) Badger (Spiderman - Mika - Tru)

That game was by far the best in the tournament, with a dramatic turn of event in the last minutes, Drifter managed to score and save his team. Badger were complaining about the starting order however the referee made it clear that the start was legitimate due to the circumstances.

at the end of the tournament Team Europe started celebrating victory under the chant of "We are the champions", while the official Luxtober Football World Cup winners list was announced on all Media as follows:

Gold Cup Team Europe: qwert1965 - Djdee - Markwolf - Turnipslaya
Silver Cup Team PPP: Supergood - Dominator - Ender_Wiggin - Eice - Zuss - Newbeslaya
Bronze Cup Team Dragon: Scad - Drifter - pls - Yo daddy
Runner up Team Badger: The - Mika - TRU - Spiderman - Kleef

CONGRATULATION TEAM EUROPE!

Dominator, The and djdee will receive their medal for showing up and supporting their teams, while other players were opted from their team list for not showing up at all.

Team America and Pheonix were simply forfeit since no one of those 2 teams showed up during the entire competition (except RCrum in the last second of the bronze game).

This 1st World Cup has ended and I would like to thank all those who participated as well as Scad who made it possible with a fantastic hosting!
Thank you all and please publish your feedback on the map and the tourney so it will be fixed for the next one.

Wink

Thank you GK and Scad, it was a lot of fun. Shame it ended in much the same way real soccer/football games end in real life sometimes. Seems fitting though.

I think it was pretty sweet. I was glad I got to jump in for a team and enjoy the competition. I liked the map and the unique style of play.
(/me just wonders why he went last every game as forward and always had to play without income Rolling Eyes )
It was great overall
thx GK and Scad for all the work

It was my pleasure to host this and it was a lot of fun. The map could have used a little balancing; the team to lead off invariably had an advantage. However, I can attest that it was run as fairly as possible and was a lot of fun.
