For maps that utilize open/empty land or intend for a certain player to be still and not move, you can use the boring/empty bot by adding agent="boring" to the player id tag. This is essentially similar to using the empty bot option in Lux.

Are there any plans to add that to the map editor and/or prevent a user from being able to actually play that player? If the starting player condition is set to random you can dealt a player that the map author intended to be unplayable (for example davy jones in BJs map or the Nomads in Hox Lords)

I should add this option in the map editor. Right now, I think the editor will delete the agent="boring" text addition if you save it in the editor (not 100% sure about that).

I think we should consider whether or not to allow maps with fully empty players. It's impossible to win with them, so it breaks the achievements somewhat. Removing them from the player list would start to solve that, but it's hard to tell which players have 0 armies at start without loading the entire map. Maybe there could be an "not active" player option in the editor to mark these kinds of players.

Yes it does remove the agent="boring" tag if you re-save in the map editor

Several of the maps would have to be redone if we decide not to allow them.

Personally I like the option, but if they are troublesome then maybe shelve the option until a future release.

I think something similar to Lux's "type the ID of the player who is empty" would be good. If that's easy to do.

This option gets my vote. That way there can be empty land in the scenario and players can't choose this starting position..

What's the verdict on this?

Can we have Vox hide a starting position from the game options if we set it to the boring bot?
