|
|
Sunday October 1st, Tournament of Champions for High Seeds!!
8 PM GMT / 4 PM Eastern / 1 PM Pacific
This TOC will consist of 4 consecutive games played by the 6 highest seeded players (as of the above time) who turn up. There will be 3 rooms (running brackets A, B, C), so a total of 18 people will be able to play. If you are top 30 seed you should definitely show up, and there will probably be room for some 31-50+ seeds also. Players can use either their normal seed or long-term seed to enter.
Show up on time to play. The A bracket will start exactly at the appointed hour, and the B and C rooms will start very shortly after.
The maps played will be Classic Risk, Classic Part Deux, and a Castle or surprise map. A mix of card and continent settings will be used.
Scoring is as follows (for each game):
8 points for 1st place
5 points for 2nd place
4 points for 3rd place
3 points for 4th place
2 points for 5th place
1 point for 6th place
The player with the most points in each room will be declared the winner of their TOC.

| Okay, here is a dumb question, Dustin. I have masses at Five and Seven pm (EST) on Sunday night. Does that preclude my involvement, or can I simply jump in after 8:00? I've been here for a couple of the Octoberfests, but never participated. |

in view of the mix-up last year and that this is very early for me, can you double check that GMT means Greenwich Mean Time and not British Summer Time. I live in Japan and go only by GMT as the US times mean nothing to me |

The event will start on time with whoever is present. If you are able to come online and play at the 4 PM EST starting time then you can participate. If you have to leave before 4 games have been played then I guess that is OK, but you'll be at a disadvantage in the scoring.

Yes, I have verified that the advertised GMT time is proper GMT, and NOT the British Summer Time (UKers take note).

EST ... Eastern Standard Time ... ?!
Umm ... nope ... !
We are currently observing Daylight Savings Time in North America ... so technically ... you should be saying the touney starts @ 16:00 EDT ... which is 20:00 GMT ...
EDT = GMT -4
EST = GMT -5

Was meant to be a clarification ... not an intentional obtusification ... thought it might explain the troubles from last year ... everyone seems to think eastern is five hours behind GMT ... and it is ... except for the summer months ... when it's four ... so umm ... yeah ... nothing to see here ... moving along ...

| Did you mean obfuscation? But I understand why you might think we thought you were making things obtuse unnecessarily. |

Well, I went to work, so I can't defend my TOC silver medal (that should have been a gold, damn you Kate and your 1 extra point) from last year.
So happy hunting

OK, there were enough latecomers complaining that I opened a fourth bracket.
Luxtoberfest is starting with a bang, ladies and gentlemen! |

Tracker - 21 points - the winner!!!!
Soca Warrior - 20 points - second place
Baden - 16 points - third place

Tracker shot to the front by winning the first 2 games. Nobody else was able to win the last 2 to match that. Congrats to Tracker and all the players.

I haven't got the brain power to work out who won, I think it was Darth, if so well done. 2nd time winner and richly deserved, played the best in all of the games and was teamed out of a win in game three, a win he really should have had.
Well played everyone else. |

Room B final results:
Darth Rellek - 23 points - the winner!!!
glowextreme - 21 points - second place
Golgi - 13 points - third
Drifter - 12 points
Smedz - 12 points
Gabo - 11 points
Darth and glow each won 2 games. Superior placement overall pushed our favorite Sith lord to the top. Congrats to Darth Rellek and all the TOC players. |

Room D final results:
*Manimal - 25 points - the winner!!!
KingPatrick - 19 points - second place
Vidar - 17 points - third place
This room was started late for some latecomers. It didn't have a steady player lineup throughout all the games like the other rooms unfortunately. The above 3 are the only ones who played all 4 games. Still, congrats to *Manimal and all the players who came out. |

Room A final results:
Dominator - 19 points - the winner!!!
Nietzsche - 18 points - second place
General K - 15 points - third place
magpie - 14 points
Packman - 14 points
pcristov - 12 points
This room was very competitive. There was a great turnout, with seeds 1,1,3,3,5,5 from the normal and long-term seeds showing up to battle it out. No player was able to win 2 games, and it was down to the wire at the end.
Big congratulations to Dominator - the High Seed Champion!!!
Thanks to everyone who came out and played in any of the rooms. It was an excellent opening night for Luxtoberfest III. |
