Before his death at the age of 33, on June 10 of the year 323 BC, he had marched victoriously through most of the known world at the time. Asides crushing the Persian Empire, his conquests included Anatolia, Syria, Phoenicia, Judea, Gaza, Egypt, Bactria and Mesopotamia, and had extended the boundaries of his own empire as far as Punjab, India.
