The year is 1864. The American Civil War has been raging for four bloody years, costing hundreds of thousands of lives. In order to boost Northern morale and ensure his own re-election, Lincoln approves a bold and controversial plan to bring the war to a quick and decisive end. In conjunction with General Grant's assault on Richmond, general William Tecumseh Sherman is to break out of Chattanooga and capture the rail hub of Atlanta. From there, Sherman's plan is to make the war unbearable for the confederate citizen to endure.
