RUSSO-JAPANESE WAR: 6 Continents, 26 territories, 17 cities The Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) was fought between the Russian and Japanese Empires for control of Korea and Manchuria. After a breakdown in diplomatic negotiations, the Japanese sent Russia an ultimatum: give Manchuria to Japan or prepare for war. A mere three hours before the Russian government received the ultimatum, Japan attacked Port Arthur. DETAILS The map itself is very similiar to classic, but the cities and railroads add a very dynamic twist. This map is conducive to both slow, strategic build-ups as well as open, fass-paced games. Remember, the railroads connect the cities! SCENARIO Russia is the powerhouse on this map. They control Russia and most part of Manchuria, including the two key railways: the Trans-Siberian railroad (which includes the southern Manchurian route) and the Manchurian railroad. They also hold Port Arthur, their key warm water port. Although Japan won the real war, in terms of geography, manpower, and resources they were the underdogs. The acquisition of Korea and Port Arthur are of the utmost priority. China is almost a non-issue on this map, but if they get involved it can swing the war either way.
