Finally an opportunity to play Vox as death personified. If that's not cheery enough for you there's oblivion personified 'Hypnos', eternally damned king 'Sisyphus' or the life of the party himself, 'Hades' to choose from.[/img]

The first step I took making this map was to create 7 players in the player set-up panel. I decided later it would probably play better with 6 but I can't find a way to delete the 7 player. Even when I delete all info in the boxes for the 7th player a bot still appears for it in the info box during play.

I have the same problem with Inferioris.... Dustin thinks it's an map editor flaw....

hmm, maybe doing things out of "the map editor order" causes bugs?

i think i did red cliff out of order and got the country label bug.

Is it a matter then of starting a new file and re-entering all the data, ensuring you get the player info part right at the beginning...?

it's worth a try...
it may be imperative, in some situations, to follow "the map editor order"

Hades needs real country names!

The player names for The Pole seem a bit mixed up? E.g. "Canada" starts off in control of northwest Europe instead of, say, Canada.

You'll have to define 'real' for me.

If it helps - I haven't invented any of the country names or player names in Hades. Everything in the map including the outline of the terrain was sourced from texts and pictorial works on Greek gods and religion. It's 'real' myth.

I just spotted this issue in The Pole also. It's odd I'm not sure what happened there but easy to fix. ty.

The Pole starting issue is fixed. While I was at it I made some changes to the income/army distribution also. I now have some players starting with more income but less armies, some other players with less income but more armies and some players right in the middle. I'd be interested to hear any thoughts on this approach.

This product contains no traces of Tom Cruise.

I meant that instead of "N Elysion", "NE Elysion", "E Elysion", "S Elysion" and "W Elysion" it might be fun to have relevant mythological names for the individual territories.

finding 27 place names was hard. I did consider it but was well short of names.

I agree that unique names for all countries would add an extra nice touch. I think the Hades myth has plenty of ideas to draw from, and it's OK to take a bit of liberty also, using god/demon names, or creating underworldly places (like Flaming Fields, Poisoned Wheat, Barren Hills, Endless Crags, Drylands, Foul Pits, etc).

It looks like there's a spelling mistake: cocytRus shouldn't have an R in it?

That would be a mistake yes. I'll see what I can cook up re place names then and fix that R while I'm at it.

Ottimo!

Although I completed the changes a week or so ago. 8) You'll be pleased to know I did use some of the same names you've included.

There's a fair whack of Norse titles in there though. The tree of Yggdrasil (the tree of life with remains standing after the apocalypse of 'Ragnarok') is certainly Norse and Odin is a variation of Zeus... like Thor was to Zeus... mmm. Valhalla of course is Elysion... a sort of heaven for soldiers.

Anyway...

Nice work and thanks for the effort! Trying to finish the next one :p

The Big League is a much simpler and more player friendly version of another map I made for Lux some time ago.

I had included 6 characters as part of the theme in the previous version but of course characters can't be assigned to players in lux. All-up the map itself was a largely misguided venture I suspect.

Anyway Vox is the perfect home for this idea. :)

Awesome map and graphics as I have come to expect from you. I'm looking forward to playing on this one.

Now we have to work on that bbcode thing... it is kinda boggling the mind on my end to be honest.

The secret is to highlight the area you want to apply the bbcode to.

My mistake was i just set the cursor where i wanted the bbcode.

So yeah, highlight the whole section you want to change then use the bbcode buttons to apply.

:)

glad you like the look of the map, cheers.

It's now downloadable from your Vox plug-ins.

I wonder what people think of the unit graphics? Do they make sense?

I think the Castle is great!

But the soldier and knight are easy to confuse on the map with everything going on. They are both tall slender objects with cityscapes. I think a key to keeping them clearly separate is to vary their shapes, ie. 1 tall and skinny, the other short and stout.

Think I agree Mb. I like the pawn icon as is but the knight isn't quite right. I'll have another go :)

... Knights are now larger than the pawn. Think it works :)

IMO, they look even more similar now. They both have a cityscape with a leg being raised over it and a bulbous head atop. But that's just my opinion.

I think MB would be happier if you put a pink feather boa around the knights.....

I didn't mean to sound negative though, if that's how it came across. And you don't have to make me happy. :)

The problem i saw with the original knight was that it didn't look enough like what it was - the image was to busy. Sure both are shown with the same action but I'm hard pressed to see how folks would miss the difference between the knights head and the pawns. The knight is quite a bit larger than the pawn also.

But maybe that's just me. :)

I'll keep a pink feather on stand-by.
