home network game won't connect

Post by DrSlalom » Mon Oct 11, 2010 11:22 pm

With my home network I can play against another player using Lux on a "private game address" on port 6619. Using the same procedure and same computers, I can't connect using Castle Vox, and it wants to connect using port 3319. I can connect however to the multiplayer servers. Any ideas?

Vox tries to host on port 3319, and sometimes 3320. You'll have to go through the hosting setup steps again using that port.

If that isnt working, email vox@sillysoft.net with all your config info, and with details of what happens when you try, and we'll see if we can diagnose the issue more.

I tried a different router and opened port 3319 and it worked like a charm. go figure.

Hey Dustin,

I sent an email to vox@sillysoft.net last week but haven't had a reply... how long roughly should I wait before resending?

Cheers,

If you re-send, include even more info. It can be real hard to diagnose somebody else's network issues, so the more info, on numbers and what you tried, and what happened, the better.
