GAME :: Robot Monkey Pirate Ninja Zombie
A couple of answers (or attempts to):
1) Can special moves be used in death matches?
Yes. However, unlike the usual way things run, the death matches should be less frequent and limited (mostly) to the eight players who move past the qualifying rounds. In the initial qualifying rounds, there will be no death matches. Ties will be awarded the points for a tie.
2) Can one or more of your special moves be used in a match?
Yes. You can use both of your offensive throws in one match if you choose. However, I forgot to mention specifically how the special moves are going to breakdown:
Qualifying Round - Each player has 2 special offensive moves and only 1 special defensive move.
Finals Top 8 Tourney - Each player has 1 offensive move and only 1 defensive moves. Any moves not used on the Qualifying round are forfeited and may not be carried over to the Finals Tourney.
3) How would a tie between special moves be decided?
If both players throw an offensive move for say, their first throw, then the move is simply a tie and the match is decided by the other 2 throws. If those result in a tie, and it is in the qualifying round, the match goes down as a tie and points for a tie are awarded. If it is in the finals tourney, the sudden death tie breaker is in affect.
If both players have the defensive move in, the following scenarios could take place:
SCENARIO 1:
Both have defensive move.
Player A Throws Special Offense.
Player B Throws Regular Sign.
Result - Player B Auto Win (Defensive Bonus)*
*Even though Player B might have elected an offensive special throw for the 2nd throw, it never came to that so that move never resolved and triggered player A's defensive bonus. However, the move was sent in and is no longer available to player B.
SCENARIO 2:
Both have defensive move.
Player A Throws Special Offense.
Player B Throws Special Offense.
Result - (Qualifying Round) - Both players awarded loss (0 Points)
Result - (Finals Tourney) - Other two throws are ignored. The match automatically goes to a sudden death tie breaker.
I think that covers the possibilities, but let me know if I missed anything here.

The groupings and final 8 bracket (currently empty of course) will be posted soon.
In order to expedite the qualifying round, I propose the following:
When you see the groupings on Page 1, you will notice you have 5 Matches (Rounds) v. all other players in your grouping. Everything was done completely randomly, using random.com to generate the list and order.
We will start on the 3rd and I request each of you to send me a PM in the following format:
Round 1 -
Zombie
Zombie
Ninja
Round 2 -
Ninja
Thing (Offense Special)
Ninja
Round 3 -
Robot
Robot
Pirate
Use Special Defense
Round 4 -
Ninja
Pirate
Robot
Round 5 -
Thing (Special Offense)
Ninja
Robot
This way you have sent all 5 of your match moves, and I can pair them up as they come in. If you simply specify which round, based off of your grouping chart, you are using the moves for, I can simplify and expedite the qualifying round.
I wish everyone the best of luck. If this seems confusing at all, it really isn't. There is very little strategy involved whatsoever. It is paper, rock, scissors folks!
See ya Wednesday (Pun intended......)

I know I said we start on "Wednesday" (the 3rd), but you may PM your moves any time. Please use the format I suggested earlier:
Round 1
Throw
Throw
Offense Special
Round 2
Throw
Throw
Throw
Defense Special
etc. etc. And obviously only use the "offense special" and "defense special" tags when you are throwing them.
2 offense moves are allowed and 1 defensive move.
Good luck!

Luck?!? Who needs luck. This game is about perception, logic, analytical opponent deduction and pure reason. There is no luck involved.jesterme wrote:I know I said we start on "Wednesday" (the 3rd), but you may PM your moves any time. Please use the format I suggested earlier:

WhirlPlaid expects to be eliminated in round one.

Given this legitimate request, I will do my best to adjust the reporting of results as follows:SunTzu wrote:I agree.paranoiarodeo wrote:Personally, I'd like to know everyone else's moves as we go along.
1) Results for throws for an entire grouping for a given round will be done simultaneously.
2) Before throws for the second round are announced, all players for the grouping will have 12 hours to adjust their throws for the next round.
I cannot delay it more than 12 hours because the qualifying round would drag on forever. Again, you may adjust your moves, but you do not have to. If I do not receive a PM requesting the adjustment, then the previously submitted moves will be used for the next round.
*edited to add: please continue to send moves for all 5 rounds.
