Lux WTA Alternate Ranking System

Moli is going to take an initial stab at a Winner Takes All ranking system. Something basic. Enokrad has agreed to host some rooms as well. Moli and I both agree that this will work the best if a group of Luxers contribute to this project.

What Moli has whipped up so far: http://www.roguepack.com/lux/

What kinds of contributors are needed to make this work:
1. Design
2. Writers(literary, not code)
3. Hosts

Anyone who gets involved as an active supporter will get a plug on the "Contributors" page.

If you are interested, please drop me a pm.

Something to keep in mind folks. This is not going to be done overnight. Moli has a lot of work to do on the initial structure. Then there will of course be corrections to make to the system. A big thank you to those of you who are already volunteering to help.

Design Needs:
molideha wrote:design has 2 elements;

1) design of the ranking system itself...we'll start with a simple +5,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1 for 6 human games only...but it will need to evolve...so, we'll want a consensus on how to improve on the simple design...we'll probably run 2-4 weeks on the simple design...during the same time discuss potential improvements (read introduce more complex scoring).

2) web design...ok, so we have all this Lux game data...what shall we do with it...how should a ranking page look and feel...you've seen my FH wins page..i'm a black and white guy..i code functionality, not design "pretty pages"...been doing it for 30 years..i'm a coder, not a designer.

February 1st should be the launch of the initial Winner Takes All Weekly competition. It will be Sunday through Saturday.. At this stage only fh games will be used. Reset will be Saturday at midnight Eastern time. There will be a weekly, monthly, and yearly medal. So remember to play for first Luxers!

I already only play for first, but it seems that I only get to play maybe one to three games a week. Do you think I can medal?

Every host in the tracker will count. The only difference is that instead of using Dustin's RAW system we're using the one moli is working on. So play as usual, just don't play for second. :D

Just a suggestion, but you might want to consider using unranked games for this. Seems like you're going to have a low signal-to-noise ratio by mixing in players who are actually trying the new system with folks who are still playing for place and chase. Best of luck. :smt023

The site looks great, the rankings are awesome...............but not all info is posted. Right now, the rankings page is cut in half and doesn't show the point accumulation.

are you viewing the site on an itouch whirl?

either widen your browser horizontally or use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom...you are definitely viewing the site on a small window if the center panel is squeezing in.

thanks for your kind words,

•Weekly : Players are required to have 3 games per elapsed day to be ranked
•Monthly : Players are required to have 2 games per elapsed day to be ranked
•Yearly : Players are required to have 1 game per elapsed day to be ranked

Just read this.....so today is the 6th day so 18 I guess is the answer!

I was wondering if it would be better to show all players scores regardless if minimum games have been played. Players who have reached required games in green and others in red as in the Manic Monday table on Mentors site.

This way a player is aware of closet rivals. A player could be one game shy on the last day and no-one would know about it. Could spring a nasty surprise!
