HELP! GAME RESET, LICENSE, SETTINGS AND STATS DISAPPEARED

I've been playing Lux a very long time indeed, but always offline. I've been playing so long, that I no longer own the email address that I initially used to buy the game. This wasn't a problem, because for years I kept track of my license key.
This morning I fired up Lux for a quick game, and it appeared as if I was a brand new user with the trial version. All my preferences were reset. My license key was gone. My stats were gone.
Strangely, many of the plugins I had downloaded were still there.
WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?
And: how can I fix it? My old user name was RevT, and created a pathetic map of Tennessee under that name. However, as I said, I no longer own the old email address for that, so I had to register again to post this.
Any thoughts?
