Hex series

Post by mbauer » Thu Nov 25, 2004 9:32 am

Preach, you are the King, or should I say the Lincoln, of map making.

I love these maps they rock!

And I must say all good series' have a prequel. So you must tell the story behind the first hex with a fourth hex which is really the first hex but comes after the third hex. 8)

∞ preacherman senses this is mb's way of embarassing him nicely with his version of the Hex to end all Hex's ∞

Re-reads MB Da Vinci's post properly and realises he is not about to create Cappella Sistina of Hex maps, but is in fact requesting Hex The Nothingth...?

Hi Preacherman
Good job on the the pretty pattern hex maps. How about for a change using other ways of tiling a plane. MC Escher is probably copyright (:-)) but Arab architecture and recreational mathematics could be the source of an endless variety of tiled planes.

The other challenge is to take a picture of a 3D surface drawn in Mathematica or some such program, tile it (!) and the represent it as a map! Serpinskis Gasket could be topologically fun, the two sides of a mobius strip of course completely useless, but you get the idea. Might have to put in a request for a 3D Lux!

Funny you should mention that. In making Snakes and Ladders, I thought about using the "monks on the infinite staircase" as a background for a similar ScaLuxtric-style map. Would have been too much work. ;)
