Custom map tutorial
Big thanks to Preacherman for creating a tutorial on how to make custom maps for Lux. You can find it (as well as all the other map making info) at http://sillysoft.net/maps
Thanks for posting the tutorial.
The links for BBEdit Lite and HTML MapMaker go straight to the installers/disk images for those programs, which probably isn't what the casual websurfer is expecting. You might want to link those to the pages about the programs (which the authors would probably consider polite) or at least make a note that they do link straight to the installers so folks realize they're about to DL a big file when they click.
BB Isn't supporting BBEdit Lite anymore, but they still have product info and a download on their page.
For convenience' sake, here are the links:

Good Tutorial. Well Done.
One question: I have been working with my own map and everything works great, but I cannot get the background image to work with it. Where do I put the image? What do I name it? Etc.
One more: Can you set color attributes for the lines between islands? Or choose what color each continent will be (rather can comp picking random)?
Thanks. All the new maps have made this game 100x more fun. Well done everyone.

B-Ron,
Information on themes is here, basically you will need to name your image "background.jpg" and put it in a folder which needs placing in Lux's Themes folder. The title of your folder is the name of your theme, and this is what is added to the .luxb file.
As far as the continents go, you can specify the border colours yourself, more information is found here. It basically just involves adding <color>1.0/0.0/0.0</color> tags to each continent.

okok
I looked at it more. color on lines - great! Let's do more - line weight?
It would be great if any line tags within a contitnent tag would retain the weight and color specified in by continent. - "international" lines would sit outside continent tags and be a default color.
This would greatly clarify continent confusion in many island situations as well as provide a fantastic cosmetic upgrade.
And we may as well take it a step further - how about css for line and color attributes? css for text on winning messages,"view continents" etc? css for continent transparenty, armies text, etc?
thanks! and rock on!
I can't believe I got this for $15!
