Desert of Dismay - THE HOAX

Post by Lupus ferox » Mon Jan 04, 2010 2:41 pm

There is something fishy about the "Desert of Dismay" map. In fact with all Desert maps. No one seems to have noticed yet. What is it?

Good thing no one tortured or teased me ...

∞ paranoiarodeo solved the riddle in ninety seconds ∞

'tis a shame you let the cat outta the bag before Dismay was widely played as MOTW ...

Woulda been a splendid thought experiment / comparative stat analysis ...

Is this a request to make it MOTW Para? Not sure Mark will see it as such....

I agree Para, that would have been great. It can still be interesting, although to a lesser extent. But the three maps received almost no attention after 6 weeks, "desert of dismay" only 5 ratings during three weeks.... No one found out yet, even though plenty hints were added. So I had to stir things up a bit.

Most peculiar was that MAPLAB suggested to change the income of some continents, because the DISMAY map was imbalanced....

:? :D 8)

Okay. Most of you must know it by now....

In "desert of despair" all territories and connections are the same as in Roman Empire II (in fact i made a small mistake in NE, NW now....)
Just mirrored on the Y-axis.

In "desert of desillusion" also the continents are the same, with the same bonuses. Two exceptions: "Rome" and "Carthage" aren't continents on their own.

"Desert of Dispair" is an exact copy of Roman Empire II. It looks different but should play identical.

Who wants REII as MOTW again? Double RAW in REII? This is your chance............

Perhaps it's not a hoax at all, but a mirage....an illusion....you know, one of those desert things.
