freaking analogies

Helen: Eice: anti, semi, omni Eice: left, middle, right
█ Helen: that isnt analogous

I feel kinda bad, I was playing a game and both type and think slow so I couldn't give my reasons. Now that it's here .. here ..

Starting with the easy one, just to make sure we're on the same page: left, middle, and right. For illustrative purposes, this is pretty linear, and can be read as something like -x (left), 0 (middle), x (right) on a graph. It's nice and symmetrical. And there's a bunch of implications if you play around with it, I'll just point out -x+x=0, as in they cancel each other out, and that there is exactly the same amount of space between -x and 0 as 0 and x.

Now for the dictionary:

Anti means against, or diametrically opposed*
Semi means half
Omni means all

Let's begin with semi, easy enough, it means half. Using the left, middle, right idea, I can't help but think you think semi means neutral. Actually, now that I just wrote the definition, half, I think I'd see what you mean. But it's not like both half this and half that, it's more like just half this. If you were to stick the prefix on any word, you would mean half or somewhatish of whatever that word is and nothing else. In other words, there's a bias toward that word.

It would look like -x, (1/2)x, x.

There's 3 times more space between -x and (1/2)x then (1/2x) and x. So there goes your symmetry.

And that's my beef here with the word semi.

Moving along, I think it's safe to say that Anti and Omni are not opposites. Not only that, but the words, together, makes the equation non-linear (it'd be a pickle to figure out how they actually relate to each other).

And that is why they aren't analogous.

Here's an accurate parallel using Anti:

Anti; objective, neutral, or unbiased; and pro.

Because each given the same amount of weight (Anti + pro) = objective, neutral, or biased

Come to think of it, I can also say (Anti + pro) = ambivalent

... but that would be opening another can of worms :wall: .

* I'm avoiding using the definition "diametrically opposed" because that's what the topic coincidently happens to be based on and could confuse things.

Helen is a wise sage. As she was there during the beginning of the Omni's it would be great to have Helen on the advisory board. Her education and knowledge would be used to dispel false statements and teach only the truth.

I would like to take this time to praise the Semi-Holy profit Steve McQueen for making my brothers aware of my abduction by the Omni-Holies. And I would also like to praise Lincoln for blessing the plan my brothers set into action, Operation: Quackdown. What I can tell you of the events, the concept involved sending in a commando unit of Ninja Ducks to free me from my Omni-Holy incarceration. The plan was executed with such accuracy to detail I am sure the Omnies have no clue yet that I am even free. The rest is filed away as top secret, so I could tell you, but I would have to bore you to death.

Let this be a lesson to the young Omni-Holies, as well as st00pid mbauer and the Anti-Holies, do not mess with the Ninja Ducks...

Image

I know it was hard for my brothers to stay quiet so the plan would be a success, but they were there for me in my time of need, and I thank them.

Eice chuckles to himself quietly...

Drifter, you have missed the real plan...
You see, we stuck a kiwi in your pocket while you were in captivity, and while you may think that was a dumb thing to do, it will surely fill the air around you with the scent of kiwi... the true holy fruit!

The kiwi is surely stuck to your pocket now as we know you wear size 1/2 in male, but even if it is not then the scent is surely in place.

So go on fellow Drifter, let the holy scent of kiwi fill the air!
All shall "repent" and let go of their anti and semi bindings when the scent of kiwi enters their lungs!

We're just glad to have you back, man.

But you smell a little like kiwi, even after the deprogramming.

Lincoln beat Robert E. Lee.

Booth beat Lincoln.

Therefore:
Anti-Holy > Semi-Holy > Omni-Holy

It's not an asshat move if he won.

Robert E Lee is an over-rated hack. Lincoln is a tyrant. There is only one who speaks the truth!

Follow me all you troubled teens! I know the way to truth!

I feel obliged to note that Grant, not Lincoln, beat Lee... but if we take that into account, we have a fair view of the various church policies:
Semi's act through intermediaries, being politicians and not warriors.
Anti's act behind the scenes, employing surprise and a lone man rather than political power.
Omni's just go out and kick people's ass with soldiers.

Honestly, I can't wait for the next duel of the churches...

Eice, this is another attempt by the Semi's and Anti's to hold their monopoly on "religous" affairs. Being that both faiths are represented in the mod squad, they are neglecting the separation of church and state. Battle on brotha! And I WUB kiwis!!!

Long live the General Lee, a much better car then the st00pid Lincoln!!!

Ah, but you miss the key element fellow Scad!

While we may employ many soldiers to fight for what is truly holy, we still act politically, secretively, and... soldierly.....

We will not be obvious in our actions, but you will know when you've been omni-ized!

MWHM - you are confused... The anti Holy church is not against anything - with the lone exception being the Semi-Holy Church.

Totally confused. Because the SEMI-Holies are only PARTIALLY against.

All I know is, if we've gotten to the point where joking about the semi and anti holies can't be laughed at, it's time for me to go.
So, in the meantime, let me just say this:
WORSHIP REAPER.
I hope you said your prayers before bed John Boy

Let's not forget that the Omnis were started by a couple of "nuts."

Even their logo seems to be PROUD of that.

is pleased to see so many young men
holding his kiwis with such fondness.
