Picklerond the high elfalways wanted to be a wizard ever since he was small. Apart from when he was really really small, when he wanted to be a dinosaur tamer. He has studied the arcane arts for many decades under the expert tutelage of the Ilrohidrion the Ridiculous. Now he is ready for a spot of adventuring. He has aquired a small green familiar which purports to be a toad, but looks suspiciously pickly

After expressing a wish for adventure and to see the word, his mentor, agreeing that he was ready, sent him on his way. He charged Picklerond with the task of finding out all he could about the legendary lost Ring of Ridiculous Misinterpretation, a powerful artefact which once belonged to Ilrohidrion´s ancestors. It is believed that the ring fell into the hands of little known religious order, who mistook it for a holy relic from their God, a deity whose name is represented by 4 consonants.

After wandering aimlessly for a few months and visiting several cities, he eventually heard a curious tale from a drunk in a tavern, of a cleric who went about accompanied by a dwarf with a bucket over his head, and something about a 4 letter word. Picklerond did all he could to seek them out, hoping to find out some news of the ring. Although they professed to know nothing of it, they shared his enthusiasm for adventuring.. Finding them agreeable companions, he decided to throw in his lot with them.

LLama is rolling on the floor laughing!

A bucket over his head and a four letter word!

oh...this is going to be quite the adventure. And to think I was affraid this would get too serious. Sometimes D&D players can get quite serious. A LLama a clown and pickle set off together into the unknown. I couldn't be more excited :D :D :D :smt044

BJ3sus, I officially change the word "helmet" to "Blessed bucket +1 with eye holes" In Gannif N'zets's item list. It was blessed by Hazz'n himself. The magic +1 ability counteracts the natural -1 to all rolls that would be caused by fighting with a bucket on your head. SO it's a wash.

drallvekk
as drallvekk stared vacantly into the abyss he pondered of his dilemna and how cruel the fates could be. that idiotic sage and his bumbling companions didn't know for what they were really questing...

son, but not heir, to noble house crellisilon drallvekk was raised to be a knight and trained with the knights of balfor until he lost his faith in his early teens. these priests knew nothing of god but would have you believe they spoke for him! ha! after slaughtering several of the most corrupt bishops drallvekk fled to the outlands where he took to the life of a brawler on the streets to earn a living.

eventualy garnering enough fame to be called to fight in the opening games of the grand arena in norgaurd. there he was exposed to fighting styles he had never before seen and techniques that would save his life on many an adventure to come. and it was there that he learned of the oracle and her ability to see into ones soul and see their true self. and so he made the arduous journey across the straights of balidur to convene with the mystical seer.

what she let him glimpse was enough to permanently shift his alignment to a darker tone, the bishops weren't just grooming the alter boys for priesthood. and it was there that she gave him the ring of the void, for she could see her own destiny as well and part of it was for her to give the void to the one who restore balance in the south. and he would if he could retrieve the ring of the infinite from the clutches of zerg.

Gannif N'zetz sits with is grog. He lifts his bucket just enough to get the grog over his tangled beard to his mouth. At 4'1 the mug looks large in his hair tufted hand. He is flanked by 6 or 7 empty mugs. Dwarven constitution keeps true drunkenness at bay. He would need a few more for a real buzz.

The "Tavern" in which he sits is a hole in a hill with a dirt floor, a few rotting wood tables. and rocks, backpacks, or whatever can be found for chairs. A few humans and demi-humans are drinking with their own thoughts.

Gannif is waiting for his friend Hazz'n the Holy. They have no particular plan to meet, but Hazz'n knows where to find him. A smile crosses the Dwarf's face. Hazz'n is Gannif's first friend who is not a bear. He gifted him this powerful magic helmet. Gannif was not sure exactly how the magic worked. All he knows is that before he had this helmet people would stare and grimace or scream or curse and hide their children at the sight of him. Now they just stare and move on. That is powerful magic indeed.

rings of eternity

Post by blackj3sus » Fri Jun 08, 2012 3:28 pm

the rings of eternity

the ring of the void - *glows blue in the presence of good
*banestrike: +4 tohit any weapon (+8 vs dragons)
*Clearsight: The deity can see illusions, transmuted creatures and objects, and disguised creatures or objects for what they really are, provided they are within 10 feet per divine rank of the deity. This ability is similar to the true seeing spell, except that it does not reveal creatures’ alignments and it does foil mundane disguises.

---------------------------------------------------------------

the ring of the infinite - *glows green in the presence of evil
*divine scrying: see future 3 times per day (reset quest if party is lost)
*remote sensing:can perceive everything within a radius of one mile per rank around any of its worshipers, holy sites, or other objects or locales (not thru walls)

===============================================
when worn together they grant the wearer the following abilities - *Divine Storm: The deity can surround itself with a vortex of holy or unholy force that manifests in different forms depending on the deity. The vortex extends from the deity in an emanation with a radius of 10 feet per divine rank. The effect stops attacks with thrown weapons and projectiles (they fail if made by creatures inside the area, or targeted at creatures within the area, or if their paths take them through the area).
In addition, the force expels creatures whose alignment on the ethical
(lawful-chaotic) axis is opposite the deity’s. If the deity’s ethical alignment is neutral (neutral good or neutral evil), the force does not expel any creatures. Affected creatures in the area must make Fortitude saves (DC 10 + the deity’s Charisma modifier + the deity’s divine rank) or be picked up and thrown out, regardless of size. Such creatures suffer 1d6 points of damage for each 10 feet they travel. Creatures that make successful saves are not affected by the vortex for one day, although the vortex still stops their thrown weapons and projectiles. Creatures that fail their saves can attempt to reenter the area, but must attempt new saves.
The force damages creatures whose alignment on the moral (good-evil) axis is opposite the deity’s. If the deity’s moral alignment is neutral (lawful neutral or chaotic neutral), the force does not damage any creatures. Affected creatures in the area must make Fortitude saves (DC 10 + the deity’s Charisma modifier + the deity’s divine rank) each round or suffer 1 point of holy damage per divine rank. A successful save negates the damage, but the creature must save again the next round
if it is still within the area.
Creatures whose alignment is diametrically opposed to the deity’s are subject to both effects. (once per day)
*Instant Move: As a move action, the deity can travel up to 30 feet per divine rank, as though using the dimension door spell, except that the deity never appears within a solid object and can act immediately after teleporting.
*Know Secrets: The deity can learn a creature’s entire history (including any embarrassing or vital secrets it might know) just by looking at it. This ability is similar to the legend lore spell, except that it delivers instant results and the subject is allowed a Will save (DC 10 + the deity’s Charisma modifier + the deity’s divine rank) to avoid the effect.
*Supreme Initiative: the deity goes first in initiative.
*Indomitable Strength: If required to make an opposed roll involving Strength the deity receives a divine bonus of +25 on its roll (once per day)

the good news is you have found a solid lead on the whereabouts of the ring everyone is so confused about.
the bad news is it's in zergs lair, which is hidden.

luckily the yokels at the "tavern" tell a tale of a map that can take you there!
if you can retrieve it from the mausoleum of death.

(ok i'm ready to stumble thru our 1st adventure...)

rooms up as mausoleum of death

Hello Mr DM.

I am wondering who is this zerg fella.
Im going to ask drallvekk about him.

Also, Picklerond has made a bit of a study of local knowledge and religion and things. Maybe if he rolled a nice high number he might remember some info? :-)
