Mafia XXXII: Treachery Aboard the HMS Quasar
The HMS Quasar was a fine ship, no doubt about it. Lord Quasar shook hands with the Captain, and wished a jovial Bon Voyage! to the crew before he left again for parts unknown. Who could imagine any trouble would follow such a fine vessel on her explorations?
************************
It is now Night One aboard the HMS Quasar. Sailors with Night actions may PM them to me before 7:59 PM EDT on Tuesday (two days from now). The rest of you... pleasant (if slightly damp) dreams...

The Ancient Tar loved to watch the sun rise. It was so peaceful on deck at this early hour… the only disruption thus far had been Mud staggering past, groaning quietly and rubbing his forehead. The Tar noticed the freshly carved smiley face there, and spat in disgust. Sailors these days! Bah!
But now the Tar leaned back against the mast with satisfaction, and drew deeply on his pipe. The sun was tingeing clouds and sea alike with a glorious golden hue. He watched a young lad run to peer over the side, his face flushed with the excitement of his first time at sea. “Sir, sir! Come look! Are those… sharks?” “Aye, Laddie, that they be. That they be.” In his many years before the mast, the Ancient Tar had learned to respect the uncanny instincts of sharks. All was not well on board the HMS Quasar. He sent the lad to fetch the Captain.
The Captain hated to be disturbed by anyone before that crucial third cup of coffee. But when the lad ran in bearing the Tar’s news, the Captain sprang to action and immediately summoned the entire ship’s complement. “Good crew! There are thieves and perhaps worse, far worse, amongst us on our beloved HMS Quasar! Will we stand for this? I think not! Let us vote to remove the scurvy scoundrels in our midst at once!”
(The Captain had always secretly yearned to go on the stage.)

I guess I got mugged. I had no belongings so the scalawags didn't get anything.

It wouldn't be a game of Mafia without a no-evidence based vote for Whirlplaid on Day 1. Cheers!

As anyone who will look at my record of any past game will see I am always an early and prolific poster.
My posts were all relevant: my vote, my observation that I was mugged and sharing that nothing was stolen and my strategy of using the lie detector to discover pirates and mutineers.
But Para already knows that and his unfounded accusation is strangely uncharacteristic. Not sure what to make of it but its is a red flag. Why dont you give the oath so you can be checked, unless you have something to hide.

Folks, please don't abstain. Learn how to play the game!
Also, it's in the rules that abstaining makes you a target for the mutineers.

Keep in mind that mutineers, pirates and the captain can all abstain without having to worry. Perhaps they didn't read the rules or perhaps they knew but didn't realize that not having to worry reveals their role.

Ahoy, mateys, I solemnly offer you one of two choices:
Either I die, or mud dies!
(Let no one else walk the plank today! Him or me! Y'argh!)
You see, I am the First Mate, the Captain In Waiting, the Man Who Would Be King, etc. Yes, me! But worst of all, I joined this voyage with the Astrolabe of Truth, otherwise known as a lie detector, and I was robbed the first night! Egad! How awful! Sadly, yes, truly, that magical tool was stolen, as soon as we set sail! Dear Lincoln, a most tragic betrayal, indeed! Extreme measures are needed to save us, thus my panic, and sudden reveal.
I fear that mud is the Mutineer Thief, or he knows who is, 'cause I can't imagine why else he would so confidentially play the "loyalty oath card" on day one, both publicly and privately. I suspect: He knows the lie detector is safely in the hands of his fellow mutineers, 'cause he or one of his conspirators stole it from me, and they know they can rewrite history, as they please! Either we stop them today, right here, right now, or else they conquer our ship soon, much too soon!
Mud is a wicked evil bastard! Clever, perhaps, but not clever enough, I say!
(If the Cabin Boy had stolen from me, then I figure he woulda revealed his mistake by now.)

Well that explains your behavior. Anyone who has played this game before knows that I encourage the innocents to take a loyalty oath so the person with the lie detector can check them.
If it was stolen then it is a coincidence.
I am sure now that you are innocent so I wont counter vote for you and if you want to waste your day on me go ahead. This will be a quick game if you play to lose. If I die and when I turn up innocent, I dont advocate you kill para.
I will change my vote to
kude. Not because I have any evidence for him but since he has the most votes and I know I am innocent.
