Mafia VII Signup
Normal Mafia game rules apply. Special notes for this iteration:
1. No abstaining for first 3 days.
2. Can not vote for yourself.
3. Innocents are allowed to PM.
4. Godfather shows up Innocent to investigations.
5. One or Two Pacifists
6. Doctor can protect anyone at night
7. Vigilante can kill at night, but will die if targets Sheriff or Deputy
8. Deputy takes over for sheriff upon sheriff's death, but is regular innocent otherwise. The deputy does not receive the investigations of the deceased Sheriff
9. Two or Three Yakuza. Yakuza work as their own team to try to be the last ones standing. They act as their assigned roles during the game, but "win" if they outnumber the town or the winning team when a mafia or innocent "win" occurs. They do not die as a group. Investigations will reveal their game role, but NOT their status as Yakuza. Yakuza status will not be revealed upon death, but members will be revealed at the end of the game.
Go.
No more than 20 players, but possibly less depending upon interest.
Numbers of Pacifists, Mafia and Yakuza are subject to change depending on number of players.

Its really easy TcraigTcraig wrote:I have interest in playing for sure!... but i dont really understand how it works. Still trying to read over all the rules and prior games played
1) You signup to play
2) You vote for mud unless you are mafia then you just kill him off at night
3) if you are innocent you disappear for days or weeks at a time, don't communicate any information and let the mafia kill everyone else off
4) if you are the vigilante you kill off as many innocents as possible, make sure to start with mud
I hope that clears things up

Some rules are modified from game to game.
usually that is stated at the beginning.
some basics.
those who are assigned a special role pm the person managing the game (EMR - enjoymoreradio) at night.
Anyone assigned as simply innocent and yakuza does nothing.
Sheriff pm's EMR to investigate 1 person to find out his role in the game.
He can find out any role of anyone he investigates except the Godfather and any Yakuza member who will show up as innocent.
Deputy takes the roll of the sheriff if he dies. If and when that occurs he receives the sheriffs investigative powers.
Mafia (including the Godfather) they pm themselves during the day and discuss who they want to kill. after they reach a decision, they pm that name to EMR.
Vigilante is an innocent and gets to kill whoever he pleases. If he tries to kill sheriff or deputy though he will get killed instead.
Doctor can use his power to protect 1 person during the night. he can protect anyone including himself. (as far as i know, no doctor in the history of mafia games has saved anyone)
Yakuza do nothing and simply hope they will be alive in the morning
Innocents same as Yakuza
Pacifists is a confirmed innocent (he cannot be a mafia member/Godfather). Pacifist has no special power, but could be used as a person the sheriff trusts and use him to announce his investigation results to everyone without endangering his (the sheriffs) life
When the morning shines, EMR announces the nights voting results.
1 person gets killed by the mafia
1 person gets killed by the vigilante (if he chose to do so)
Sheriff receives the results of his investigation
Doctor fails again to save a life.
after all this everybody gathers at Luxtopia's city hall and start advocating as to who they believe is a mafia/Yakuza member and publicly vote who the town should lynch.
at the end of the day after everyone has voted, the person with the most votes gets lynched.
At that point day becomes night and all the special roles take over again and so the cycle continues.
Mafia need to kill everyone to win the game.
Innocents have to kill all mafia and their total count, at the death of the last mafia member, to outnumber the Yakuza (example - 7 people alive, 4 innocent and 3 yakuza, innocents win etc.)
Yakuza win if all mafia are dead and the total Yakuza count outnumbers innocents (5 people left, 3 Yakuza and 2 innocents, Yakuza win) mafia try to win by influencing votes towards a certain group of people. they have a block of 3 people (unless someone gets killed) which can easily swing a vote towards someone they want to kill.
A pacifist and the vigilante are always innocent.
The Sheriff, Doctor, Deputy, 1 Yakuza member, could be a mafia member in disguise.
Yakuza can be anyone except a Vigilante, Godfather or Pacifist. (that is not how we played it last game but that is they way it should be)
EMR, feel free to copy/paste this and make any changes you want and add it in your first post at the top of the page for all new applicants who wish to participate but don't know the rules.
