October 12th - TWITCH TOURNAMENT
TUESDAY OCTOBER 12th — TWITCH TOURNAMENT
BEGINS :: 9 PM Pacific / MIDNIGHT Eastern / 5 AM London / 6 AM Paris
ENDS :: EXACTLY 24 HOURS LATER
Fast furious and not for the faint of heart ... !
(This is gonna be a fun one folks!)
Newbies who might not be familiar with twitch Lux so lemme explain ... games are played with ridiculously short timers and fast income increases ... killing players isn't as important as racing around the board and popping all income ... you're gonna need superb reflexes and some luck ... 'cause sometimes you've gotta be reckless and hope your opponents will trip over themselves ...
This tournament will be structured like my other Luxtober events ... slightly modified traditional Luxtoberfest scoring with games weighted by human count so full houses aren't required ... thirty minute maximum enforced with patented Marathon Nuking ™ technology ... and my usual Chimera bots have been dumbed down slightly so they don't slaughter you slow feeble humans ... seriously though ... be careful in three and four bot games 'cause my stooges can still slap you around and they'll never apologize ...
8 points for 1st place / 4 for 2nd / 3 for 3rd / 2 for 4th / 1 for 5th / 0 for 6th
FH equals 1.0 games / 5 human 0.64 / 4 human 0.36 / 3 human 0.16 / 2 human 0.04
TEN GAMES MINIMUM REQUIRED
( total points / games ) + ( ( games - 10 ) * 0.2 ) = Final Score
(Over minimum bonus maxes out @ twenty FHs for an additional 2.0 points.)
MAPS WILL CHANGE BEFORE EVERY 20s AUTO-RESTART
Roman Empire II - 5,10,15 - 15% - 13s
Londinium HD - 5,10,15 - 15% - 13s
Classic Bizarro - 5,10,15 - 20% - 10s
DEUX REDUX - 5,10,15 - 30% - 10s
THE HOT GATES - 5,10,15 - 30% - 13s
Antarctica - 5,10,15 - 40% - 13s
(Please install these maps before playing to avoid missing your first turns; timers will vary +/- one second.)
UNRANKED PRACTICE ROOM
Scared or hesitant or confused ... ?
Then try the TWITCH (UR) room first and "get your feet wet" before diving into real games ... !
THE FINAL WORD

PLS, you keep mentioning about games being ranked and we keep telling you they are not.
What you experienced in the teamplay tourney was a different kind of ranking system.
Teams that places in the top 3 spots were guaranteed to be in the next match.
everything else (selection of players) was totally random.
All tourneys follow a cycle system

So you say I'm missing something? Here's what I saw:Enokrad wrote:PLS, you keep mentioning about games being ranked and we keep telling you they are not.

All tourneys follow a cycle system
1. Ranked? "Yes"
2. "pls has been moved to 10th." (May not be the exact wording.)This action is done only when a game is ranked, or when a player's position is determined by his rank via points standing.
3. pls [Seduction] I believe other players were assigned "Seduction" status as they entered.
What more do you want besides a screen shot (which I unfortunately failed to take) to show that the game I tried to enter was ranked?
Or perhaps you can point me to the explanation of the "different kind of ranking system"?

You are confusing two concepts here pls ...
(Don't worry; you're not the first Luxer to do so.)
Luxtoberfest games are sometimes ranked meaning those games award RAW or team ranking points ...
(Today's twitch games are unranked, meaning players will not win or lose RAW; either way, tourney rankings are calculated outside of the RAW system.)
But none of the individual or team tourney games have been ranked meaning "highest RAW shuffle" ...
(Individual tourney games have used cycle to select players; team games use a dynamic system to randomly group players based on team availability.)

Now ... time to overhaul the game selection board language so that no one else is confused, don't you think? And ... bumped to 10th ... was this just an arbitrary number? It certain appeared to have been based on current RAW. But I suppose not. Yeah, I'm still confused.
pls, since you're SOOOO familiar with RANKED games...
You'd know it never says...
pls moved to the 10th position.... in RANKED games...
It only did that in the team games tourny, its just how the system cycles it's players for the team games... It has nothing to do with "ranks"
and if your team didnt have both players in the room, then yes... every time. It will cycle you to the last position... just deal with it, it is what it is.
People have told you time and again, the rooms are not ranked, if you don't understand by now... I suggest giving up on trying to figure it out and just go play... the room is open.. go check... you're not even there... you rather complain on the forum instead.

Are you trying to say this started Oct 11th 9PM PDT? Rather than the Oct 12th date listed?

I'm saying it started one second past midnight on Tuesday October 12th eastern US time ...jwd wrote:Are you trying to say this started Oct 11th 9PM PDT? Rather than the Oct 12th date listed?
The same time zone that Sillysoft's server has used for as long as I've been around here ...
(2010-10-12 05:00:01 London / 2010-10-12 06:00:01 Paris; if either of those time zones suit you better.)
The tournament concluded thirty-eight minutes ago after twenty-four solid hours of rip roarin' fun ...

Thanks for the words of wisdom. You were a great help and inspiration and would have been even more useful had you known the definition of "complain". I am indeed still confused, but since I'm old, you may continue to flog me instead of helping me across the street. It's all right; everyone does it these days. I don't mind.SmotPoker wrote:... if you don't understand by now... Hello PLS,
I am going to try to help out.
On a day to day basis when players play Lux we use a RAW system that ranks players based on how much RAW each player has earned. When players are in a room that is RAW ranked, the six players with the highest RAW get to stay in the room and compete.
For the Luxtober tournaments that I have seen in para's host, we are not using RAW as a determining factor. Everbody that enters into the room is placed in a line and given a location in that line. From there the top six players play. If you leave the line (the room) and come back you get bounced to the end of the line. Once the first game is over, the top three players from that game get to play in game number two and then three new players in line take spots four, five, and six.
So there is no ranking per se, but there is an order based upon if you played and won (or lost) or if you have been waiting in the room and are scheduled next in the que.
Hope this helps.
