Mafia XXVIII (28) — LUXWOOD — GAME THREAD
*************************************************
Times were changing in Luxwood.
This once-lawless frontier mining camp had received such an influx of decent, upright settlers in the past year that the place was barely recognizable. Sarsparilla was being served alongside Red Eye in the GoldDice Saloon. Someone had put Bibles in all the rooms of the Hotel Lux. Most days, there were only one or two shootouts in town. (Except Sunday afternoons, of course.) Luxwood was becoming almost… respectable.
Or so it might seem to the casual observer.
Even though now outnumbered by virtuous citizens, Luxwood’s criminal elite weren’t going to relinquish their hold on the town quite so easily. Not while there was still a dishonest profit to be made. They might blend in with the townsfolk well enough during the Day, but at Night… this was still the Wild West.
*************************************************
It is now NIGHT in Luxwood. You have until 7PM Tuesday, Eastern US time (about 24 hours from this post) to PM any Night actions.
*************************************************
Rules, roles and special item descriptions are here.
A time zone converter is here.

(PARA: But, but, but.)
(TSK: No.)
(PARA: I'm terribly disappointed, just so you know.)
(TSK: Don't make me smite you.)
(<strike>PARA: Blah blah blah.</strike>)
(TSK: Another census update and <strike>a bit of smiting</strike> more blather.)
(PARA: Did you say something? I wasn't paying attention.)
(TSK: And yet another census update.)
(PARA: Single names are more awesome. Ask Madonna or Oprah.)
(TSK: Smitten.)
(PARA: Han Solo said it best: "I know.")
(TSK: I meant the logo. Thank you.)
(PARA: The logo knows too.)
(PARA: This is me thumbing my nose at the non-mod gamemaster.)

The Sheriff watched the glorious sunrise over Luxwood with smug satisfaction. Making the rounds of the town at daybreak, there had been no sign of any trouble overnight. "Maybe I've finally brought law and order to this cesspool."
On the outskirts of town, the tombstones of twelve past sheriffs mocked the newbie…

There were NO DEATHS in Luxwood on Night One.
Day One begins now, and ends at 7 PM Eastern US time on Wednesday. You may discuss the events of the Night and vote for a player to be hanged tomorrow morning, if you choose. (No editing posts, please.)

Seems a little strange to vote for anyone. We have the option to abstain and we have no evidence to base any vote on. Random voting is especially dangerous as it can force an important role to reveal itself.
I think the smart decision is to abstain unless information surfaces from one of the sheriffs or other key roles.
I have to vote Rhye to even things out, but will switch to abstaining once that becomes the majority.

Unless information is presented I am going to presume that anyone voting for anyone else is an outlaw. As it stands both Rhye and Randomguy will both die if there is a tie. Why don't you both just switch back to abstain before someone else jumps on the bandwagon and it is too late. There is no reason for anyone to die during the day and a stab in the dark is only bad news for us goodies.

Wot kude said. And it'd be helpful to me if y'all did the traditional thing and bolded your vote, whenever possible. (Thanks!)kude wrote:nobody will see that you made a post if you delete it, so it really shouldn't matter.

So. Many. Rules.
Friendly reminder: Players begin each Day with a vote against them (their own). You need to vote or abstain in the thread to remove this vote. Tie votes will result in multiple hangings.

TSK - if the majority abstain, but a few vote, does the top vote-getter get lynched or does the majority carry the day?
regarding deleting posts: sometimes people can see/quote/reply to posts before you delete them. I'm OK with it either way, but always found it cleaner to say no deleting and no editing, so the game record remains unspoiled.

RULE UPDATE
The top vote-getter(s) will be taken away to be hanged the next morning. If everyone abstains in the thread, no one dies. Bloodthirsty frontier justice.
It would be cleaner not to have deleted posts. But, try as I might, I can't guarantee that I'd catch all posts that are deleted before there's a following post. If the post has been replied to, the "deletion" would be an edit*... a definite no-no. If the post is deleted before a following post, it should not be quoted in the thread... it could easily be a fabrication. I hope everyone playing would be wise enough to take it with a grain of salt, but don't do it anyway!
Thanks, Random.
*Our lovely mods would of course never stoop to using their powers in aid of a mere forum game.

Better to simply investigate me in the morning than try and vote me out now. (If Randomguy doesn't change his vote by 6:30 I will vote him out regardless.) But clearly if he isn't willing/ reluctant to change his vote it is more likely that he is Mafia.Mud wrote:So far all abstains except Randomguy's vote for Rhye. If RG doesn't change his vote and Rhye dies and turns up innocent then I say we kill RG next round.
The daytime is the time to kill known or probable outlaws not to help them kill us off.
