VETERANS TOURNEY

Who qualifies?
Anyone who joined Lux between Oct 1, 2006 and Oct 1, 2010.
In other words, your first alias's user ID must be between 13915 and 34678.

Maps will be played in a semi-random rotation.

Winner picks?
Yes. The winner will be able to choose a non-standard map from a pre-defined list.
Details will be posted later today, including maps and instructions for picking.
The same non-standard map can not be played twice in a row;
Any attempts to do so will default back to the standard map shuffler.

I'm gonna open this thread for comments. All the stuff above will get prettied up sometimes tomorrow. This tourney is also gonna play until late Saturday, maybe even Sunday. Depends on how much enthusiasm is shown. Again, if anyone has some (reasonable) suggestions for winner picks, lemme know. I won't promise to add everything, but there's no harm in asking.

;)

Samuel: I added Cube Wars and a few others that we discussed in game chat.

pickle: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope more players will use the winner picks option throughout the tourney.

(My apologies for not adding this option months ago.)

Can we keep the oldtimer room as a permanent lux fixture. I love just sitting in it watching the newbies try to enter and bounce out.

So, what's the deal with the Ladies Tourney? Is it going to be a multiple day event like the other tourneys? Or is it going to be a one day thing at a certain time?

I'll put up the ladies host tonight and leave it open until Sunday. You all can coordinate amongst yourselves for the best time to play. TSK was kind enough to provide me, to the best of her knowledge, with a list of eligible ladies. If anyone slipped through the cracks, either on or off the list, lemme know and I'll make a correction ASAP. Also, any maps you'd like added to winner picks, just lemme know too. Thanks.

Sort of entertaining watching the veterans room, wish I could play in that one since it is only way to get a FH

Well I will be drifting in and out for the rest of today. We got a few semi-FH games earlier thanks to freedom, mud and mohegan

Obviously, I grossly overestimated the number of OLDTIMERS who'd be interested and willing to play. Out of 13914 user ids that joined before Luxtoberfest 3, I counted 150 unique registrations that have been active in the last 3 months, another 100 including games since the first of this year. Not an overwhelming number, but I thought it was more than enough to accommodate a few FHs.

Names including: Royalion, gypsymystyc, upeng2005, GODZILLA, Soloman Grundy, Baden, Big¢Daddy, Jormanainen, LuxCampCoach, AnguS10, Zman, mood in dhingo, Killercatfish, newbeslaya, h0b0, War Pig, Charlie Sheen, Odie-Wan, pcristov, Dangerous Beans, DD, Cute gal, Dr.Thorvaldt, snarl, yls, gary the cheater, Frank17, cuFlea, Crzyhrse, sanjumaru, SuperGood, Dude-man, Chillmark, jahlives, Red Beard, Toxik, pSampras, Mud, shopi, gp9, MonkeyJump, mohegan, Marauder, krom, TCraig, JGRNAUT, mofo, KingPatrick, AquaRegia, Global Thermonuclear War, Freedom, Juveke, etc.

Those are just the more frequent players. Other folks who've resurfaced occasionally this year: cheech99, Gros Totor, candj, PSU7685, '84 Tigers, stanski, SecondTermMistake, Tracker, Blitzbear, SnyperEye, Frost, Kristian, ricardo, Lantern, Scoutxr28, Dominator, Soundboy, Gryffindor, *Manimal, ViVa, Cyanshade, gibraltar monkey, MathiasEE, MrBuckin the Impaler, Scepter, The Wontrob, Kain Mercenary, Yo Daddy, etc.

I thought more of these folks would appear for nostalgia's sake. I was wrong. Therefore, I'll open the VETERANS (MIDDLE AGED) tourney open to the OLDTIMERS, so they aren't left out of the best games going this week. The OLDTIMERS room will stay open, and perhaps enough of the players above will bump into each other, so they can change rooms for a few games in their original tourney.

My apologies to any Luxers who were frustrated by the original setup for this week's events.

So I will win the Oldtimers tourney, right? I won several games in there - in fact, I think I'm the only one who even played in the room.

Are opponents rank a factor in how points are tallied? For instance, would a top 5 player have more to gain from playing against those among the top 10 than say, from among the top 20?
