Old School Dungeons & Dragons

Post by n00less cluebie » Fri May 11, 2012 1:52 pm

Ok....so reading Darths and Droids over the past 4 days got me feeling nostalgic about my old RP days and I was thinking of starting up an old-school old fashioned AD&D game here....I'd need to work out details as if we left it all to the forums it might take too long. Maybe over skype, irc, fantasygrounds.com or whatnot but first I need to gauge interest:

Is there anybody here that would want to try this? It'd be a fairly long-term commitment but it could be a blast....

Thoughts?

so text n pics for general exploration then you could break it down for encounters and show character locations on a zoomed in encounter map

-world map
-a dungeon map (mapping is boring so pretend you got the map at the tavern in town haha)
-and zoomed in encounter maps of like each room where fights happen to keep track of characters

I would join this - as long as no one is in a hurry and it can be done right.

I could skype or whatever the cool kids do these days. Not sure there is enough old school here for a D & D though....

I have been involved in three or four D&D or RP type games that have always started off with a bang and then fizzled to non-existent. I would need to know just a bit more as how this might work before I can commit.

I agree; I'd hate to start something and not have it go anywhere; so tell me what parts worked in the past and what failed. I think we can play some aspects in the forums but complicated battles would need to be done in real time if this is to end sometime before the sun goes nova....

So you wouldn't believe me if I rolled a 20 on all my attack rolls?

This looks like it could work, and without too much difficulty.

So what's people's schedules for free time (EDT) I'd like to see if we could find a weekly slot we can use for a few hours. . . .

My suggestion is to start a pretty small low-key low-level campaign to get us started and see where we can go....

All of a sudden, my free time has done bye bye. Thank you for the invite, but I will not be able to play.

Well....Good news is that I've put together a first small dungeon.

The Bad News: My free time may become limited

The Good News: My Wife is expecting a baby!

The Bad News: It's probably mine....

BJ, if you want to do the GameMaster duties, I could commit time to playing, but I can't commit to creating the whole setting :(
