GAME :: Robot Monkey Pirate Ninja Zombie

Just in time for Luxtober, another edition of the famous paper, rock, scissors variant is back! RMPNZ!

For new players, this is a game of paper, rock, scissors with 2 extra signs and a few twists. You will be put against an opponent and each player will send a private message with their 3 moves for that match. You can see the picture below to see the winning move breakdown.

Image

If you win the best of 3, you defeat your opponent for that match. Some special moves are also included in the game - and the special move details are explained below.

The first special move is an offensive move. Our special guest, Thing (from Addams Family fame) will make one throw for you. When a hand like that is throwing your move for you, it is a sure thing, and you will automatically win that throw. You may have Thing make 2 moves for you in the qualifying round.

The second special move is a defensive move. You may declare you are doing the SAFETY DANCE and "Everyone will look at your hands" which will confuse Thing as he can not resist the SAFETY DANCE and his lack of concentration will render him useless, and the entire match will be won by the player who initiated the SAFETY DANCE as Thing and all other hands in this game will be rendered useless due to their preoccupation with said SAFETY DANCE. That is just a long and st00pid way to say that if Player A uses the special offensive move, and Player B has used the special defensive move, then Player B wins the match and is awarded the 3 points if in the qualifying round or moves on if in the Finals tournament. The SAFETY DANCE may be used only once in the qualifying round.

A few changes for Luxtober in the organization of the tournament. As usual, each match up will consist of 3 throws. However, instead of immediate elimination for the loser, or automatic promotion for the winner, each player will be awarded points depending on the match outcome. Depending on the number of players, the field will be subdivided into 4 separate groups. Each player in the group will have a match against the other players in the group. Therefore, every player is guaranteed more than one match up.

The point breakdown is:

1 point for Winning Throw
2 points (each player) for Tie Match
3 points for Match Win

Once all of the players in a group have finished their matches, the top 2 scores move on to the final 8 grouping. In order to expedite the qualifying round, you will be sent a private message with your opponents for the qualifying round. Please reply with your throws for all the matches in your qualifying group. Depending on the number of players, this could be several matches. I will try to post results evenly so it is more like a season instead of a lump of matches by the same players.

From this point forward, the 8 players will be seeded according to total points. The tournament then changes back to the single elimination rules as seen in past tournaments. All players are given both special moves back, but only 1 of each. Special moves not used in the first qualifying round are not carried over to the final 8 tournament and are forfeited. From this point forward, tie matches will be decided by a sudden death tie breaker.

In the sudden death tie breaker, each player sends 3 moves. The first to defeat their opponent with a knockout wins the tie breaker and is promoted to the next round.

So.....

TAKE YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS (yeh, we know, you were just jingling your spare change...) IT IS TIME TO SIGN UP FOR RAMPUNZEL !

Rhye wonders when Rock, Paper, Scissors became so complicated.

Actually, my version ends up being quite simple. Mr. Behemoth hosts a more complicated version for the smart people in the room!

It was easier for them because they had lots of visual aids!

Voodoo trolls can regenerate 4 hp per round. Limbs (and eyes) can regenerate in a matter of turns.

Your welcome.

On edit:

Because it is important to get these things right-

Ad&d trolls regenerate 3 hp/round and regenerate a limb that has been detached and cannot heal in a week.

D&D version 3.5 gives the trolls regeneration of 5 hp/round and regenerates a limb in 3d6 minutes.

So, depending what version of voodoo troll you are, you MAY be able to dramatically pluck out your own eyes once every 18 minutes or so.

Your welcome again.

Thumbs up for the new points system and staggered eliminations.

Couple of :?: s

Can special moves be used in death matches?

Can one or more of your special moves be used in one match?.. like both defensive moves or defensive and offensive or something exotic like two offensive and one defensive?

Assuming that was possible, how would a tie between special moves be decided?
