UPDATE:

The Barnacles and Asshats have four hours (11pm EDT) to complete their match.

Currently, they're tied at one game each, and ideally, they will play two more games, plus tiebreakers.

Do please try and wrangle up your players, folks.

(I really don't wanna push a team forward based on a technical forfeit.)

Can we do it where it's like a game every hour or 2, so those on the west coast can play too?

I.E.

Game 1: 4 PM Eastern
Game 2: 5:30 PM Eastern
Game 3: 7 PM Eastern
Game 4: 8:30 PM Eastern

etc.?

(Good idea, BWE.)

Lemme put this another way. I'll open the room around 4pm eastern, and folks can show up whenever. We'll play games as people come and go. Ideally, we'll play at least four, maybe six games, plus tiebreakers, if needed. I won't rush them all at once, but try and pace play so both teams have a chance to use all their players over several hours. If you guys really wanna help me out, then please send me (and your captain) a forum PM with a rough schedule of your availability tomorrow. Also, obviously, please spread the word around your team, and encourage them to show up, and send their schedules too.

(Thanks.)

At first, I thought the "come and go" method wouldn't work, but it seems to have worked out alright even under a short notice. Scheduling, while it seems more organized, probably won't work simply because there will be gaps in the times, plus if a single player has a sudden change of plans we'll be at the mercy of the iron schedule. I suppose, as para said, the best thing to do is just to take it slowly so that we have a few games in the afternoon and a few in the evening.

(Break until evening.)

REMAINING GAMES LEFT UNPLAYED

Inglorious Asshats had four people online for the majority of the evening, and at times, as many as six or seven. Sexy Mozafukas were only able to muster one or sometimes two players at any given time. Unfortunately, I must declare a Mozafukas forfeiture for failing to appear. I wish I could wait another day or two, and settle things on the battlefield, but I don't have any faith that such an extension would ensure that the Mozafukas will appear, and any such delays would push the conclusion of Survivor into the second week of November, and that's not gonna happen. Sorry, folks.

Note: I changed the AFK replacement bot from Empty to Defender. This will prevent the persistent zero income bug that has been affecting reconnected players. Theoretically, Defender will place income, but won't attack, unless someone attacks it first, then it'll attempt to recapture the conquered country. I haven't tested this behavior yet, so I can't be certain that'll actually behave like that, but here's hoping it will. If so, then this means Defender will not pop open borders next to teammates, but won't card at all, unless you force it to by attacking it first. Please keep this in mind, and adjust your strategy accordingly. Also, I have reactivated the /transfer command, and will allow teammates to substitute in case of emergency. Notice how I said emergency? Yeah. If someone joins a game knowing they'll have to leave in fifteen minutes, then I might not wanna transfer to another teammate who shoulda been playing from the beginning. So keep that in mind too. Thanks.

FIRST UPDATE @ 7:45 PM EASTERN

I expect today's teams will play at least two more games by midnight eastern US.

That's four hours, folks. Should be plenty of time to wrap up this round.

(It's to your team's advantage to come lurk with as many players as possible in case I must judge a forfeit.)

SECOND UPDATE @ 11:45 PM EASTERN

Asshats win by default. See the game results post above for details.

THIRD VERSUS SECOND

—> Inglorious Asshats versus Ferocious Hamsters

Games begin Wednesday 1pm Eastern US. Hopefully, we can play a "best of six won by two" match, but that depends upon attendance. Please coordinate amongst yourselves. Since Halloween will keep some players from participating tomorrow, I expect this round will stretch into Thursday, and the final championship match will begin on Thursday night or Friday afternoon. Ideally, we'll crown a victor no later than Saturday night.
