The winner picks room will open up on: Thursday October 8th: 11am Pacific / 2pm Eastern time / 7pm London / 8pm Berlin
and will run for at least an hour, and longer if people continue to arrive and play.
Later in the day, the tourney will continue at: Thursday October 8th: 6pm Pacific time / 9pm Eastern / 2am London / 3am Berlin (friday Oct 2nd in europe) and run into the evening while we have enough people.
The winner of each game gets to select the map for the next one! Some suggested maps:
Arms Race
Battle of the Baltic Sea
Blobs
Canada HD
Castle Lux - Three Kings
Castle Lux - The Last King
Cube Wars
RISE OF SPARTA
Teleport
THE HOT GATES
U.S.A. War Zone
U.S.A. War Zone HD (a smaller version of the USA Warzone Map)
WWII Europe Redux
WWII Tanks - Afrika Korp
WWII Tanks - Hurtgen Forest
Winners are free to pick a map outside this list, as long as it's not a "regular" map (like Classic, Bio or Rome).
Join the "FEST" online host on the day of the tourney to participate.
Here's the LIVE LEADERBOARD.
Here's the shiny bling that will be awarded to the winners:

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
I'm not sure if we should allow the same map to be played twice in a row, or not. Thoughts?
Maybe put a limit on times-in-a-row that a map can be played that's higher then 1. Like max 3 times in a row?

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
I am all in favor of limiting times in a row. Hope the first day went well.

Being in favor of an even playing field, I advise a times-in-a-row limit be set no higher than 1, *cough* Scotland *cough* but with unlimited replays over the course of the tourney.dustin wrote:I'm not sure if we should allow the same map to be played twice in a row, or not. Thoughts?

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
what do you think about an small bonus for many different played maps?
Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
All games with 2 or more humans will count for the results in this winner-picks tournament. Final scoring tally will be presented tomorrow to account for this
We'll go with whirl's suggestion that a map can only be played once in a row, but with unlimited replays over the course of the tourney.

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
I will open a Winner Pick's host tomorrow 10.8.15. I will open as close to 6PM PST as possible (barring traffic and exiting my store on time). I will keep the host open for no less than four hours. I will keep the host open later if there is medium to heavy activity. I will forfeit my player spot if seven players are guested in. Winner gets to pick the next map. Winner can NOT pick the last played map as his/her selection. I retain the option to refuse any map solely upon time consumption and playability. I will ask for card settings and income increase if the Winner want's changes. I have the right to make changes at any time. I will not use the autostart feature so I can have time to change map settings. I will not restart for negative income (but will encourage players to pop neg's when reasonable).
If you have thoughts or suggestions, I am always open minded.

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
I have left a provision that allows us to play Scotland or Cube Wars or USA WARZONE BIO or any other map as many times as we can fit it in as long as it is not back to back.

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
How am I supposed to win anything if I can't just play Scotland continuously? Buncha rubbish
Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
The early time WinnerPicks room is now up. Come on down!
Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
Had some great games this morning!
Here's the LIVE LEADERBOARD.
It's possible final tally calculations could change still. I'm trying to balance letting 2 human games count for something, without dragging down the averages too much. So we'll compare the tally and points columns as the day progresses...

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
A FH house game should earn 100% point value.
A 5 person game should get 83% point value.
A 4 person game should get 67% point value.
A 3 person game should get 50% point value.
A 2 person game should get 33% point value.
Or something close to the above numbers. Those are my thoughts. Just two cents worth. But since there is only one of me, I would only give it one cent worth value.

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
My store was slow today so I left early allowing my number two to close down. Consequently, I can open Winner Pick's early. The first person to join the room can pick the first map.

I genuinely apologize for the failure. We had internet drop in our area for about three hours and now that I am back on, I can't successful host. I will try to trouble shoot, but I am not very good at this.

OK! My host is up and will stay up as long as there is any interest!
Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
BIG CONGRATS WHIRL! As far i a saw you won 8 out of 10 games! VERY WELL DONE SIR
The scoring is a bit strange as you lost tally Points in your last game for playing and winning a bot game (your tally after 9 games: 7,14. After winning the 10th game your tally was only 7,0. so you lost 0,14 points although you even got a 0,2 bonus for your 10th game. If you continued playing (and even winning all) bot games Camaro would probably have won; It is mathematically very difficult to find a perfect scoring for the bot games. IMHO Bot games should not count as much as FH games, but they should not punish a player somehow like it did with Whirl and probably other also; e.g. if a player would have won 10FH games, he would have got a perfect tally of 10 in sum. If another player also would have won 10 FH-games but also won additional 10 2-human games, his tally would be far below 10. Thats not quite fair IMHO). Nevertheless i think we had worthy winners and we should not worry too much about scoring-details!
Congrats also to Camaro and Cynecal!
personal add:
1) I myself want to apologize to George and others for my 2 halfkills (i really sucked on these new maps ... also cost me my own games. Nevertheless big apology for my bad Play.)
2) The tourney was great fun to me. Maybe we can keep up the winner picks idea to promote more maps in future. I am looking Forward for further tourneys.
>with a minimum of 1 games required
LOL - if e.g. George would have stopped playing after game 1929189 he would have won with only 1 FH game and 8 tally Points

Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
I intend on hosting Winner Pick's tourneys bi-weekly starting in November. Simple. Four hours or so. We'll see. Thanks for the kind words. It's good to lucky every now and then.
Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
Thank you Fips ... was hoping WP would play a few more. anyways i had fun.
Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
I got the 1st place medal when i really placed 2nd... unless Wp's shelf is to full to accept any more medals , there must've been a mistake.
Re: October 8th :: Winner-Picks tournament
I gave out 2 first place medals. One to Whirlplaid for sure, but since he was also hosting, I gave out a second one to you camaro. And then a 2nd place to Cynecal and a 3rd place to BRAINDEAD.
Congrats all winners!
Congrats all winners!

Hosting a tournament while competing in it is usually an advantage. In spirit of fairness and inclusion, I allow tournament hosts to compete if they feel called to, but generally don't remove a medal from other candidates. So there can sometimes be more then 3 medals given out in a tournament. Sometimes if ties happen, this can also happen. I like to operate from a stance of generosity, within the competitive structure of the tournaments.
