It's Earth's Very Own Day!

Post by The Silken Knot » Fri Apr 22, 2016 12:02 am

:globe It's Earth's Very Own Day! :globe
And you know us Castle Earth types... we love our games. (And our showers, but that's for another time.)

In celebration of the day, I'll be posting up some Earth themed this-and-thats here throughout the day. I'll post the last set before midnight EDT-US (4 AM UTC), and take answers until the following midnight. Send your answers to The Silken Knot via PM, unless the description for a task says to post them. I will take partial answers (example, just A in the first question, them maybe the others later), but once you've sent an answer to me, it's locked in-- no changes.

Scoring for each task will be noted in the descriptions.

And what's in it for you, you ask?
  • • MAGIC INTERNET POINTS. I know how you love your points. Get more here!
    • Fun, glory, arcane knowledge, and, most importantly, BRAGGING RIGHTS.
    • A wee GIFT CERTIFICATE from Earth's most customer centric company.
    • A wee DONATION in your name to water.org, or the environmental charity of your choice.
Isn't that almost as good as being in Castle Earth? Almost.

Please name the Earth players that these images represent.

Seedless Rhye? Sacrilege!

Plus, you were never on Castle Earth. That should help you narrow it down.

Tell A TSK! Round 1

What is your favorite song with Earth in the title or lyrics?

Post your answers here, please. If Earth is not in the title, quote the lyrics to show your Earth love.

A classic. Well done!

∞ TSK chooses to take that as an answer, and not a commentary on the cl00bies' morning activities... ∞

Yes, Earth is a AMAZING Castle...

Choose either or both. 100 points for the biggie, 15 for the small... plus 10 points each for finishing first. And correctly.

CONGRATULATIONS

Professor cluebie was both quick on the draw and (mostly) accurate. Not bad for a non-Castle Earth Luxer.
Please let me know who your chosen environmental charity is, and check your PM for a very important message from
:globe 's most customer centric, uh, you know.

Honorable mention to Rhyeby.

(I suspect he would have won, but he kept losing count of the tabs making up the dress. Reuse at its finest, no?)

Thanks for playing!

Wow. I only started to solve puzzles because there were puzzles to solve and didn't notice the FABULOUS PRIZES involved.

While water.org is a great organization, and is enough of a kicker to see an earth player donating to, as a musician and an erstwhile Virtue member, I'd love to promote the Virtu Foundation http://www.virtufound.org which provides musical instruments to those who can't afford them. Additionally I'll be happy to match TSK's donation (or will donate to HER selected charity) for putting together a great pre-Passover puzzler!

I should've taken some of the freebies, but I was too exhausted after solving the big maze :panic:

Happy Earth/Virtue/Water/Clean Air Act, etc. day to all.

Ok. So water.org as well as virtufound.org have received donations. Anyone want to join in the fund, maybe with an AIR charity like aircharitynetwork.org? Or maybe even the Earl BANE foundation?

Oh, yes, there are actual answers… :smt017

Name that Earthling, Round 1:
  • A. bean
    B. PJB
    C. SnyperEye
    D. Tazzygirl
Recycling, Round 1:
  • B. is the correct answer (actually, 3,112)
Interestingly, not a single Luxer made a guess for this one.
Tell A TSK, Round 1:
  • There are many possible answers. The most correct, of course, is Not To Touch The Earth (The Doors).
Earth is A Amazing Castle:
  • C'mon, just diy.
Name That Earthling, Round 2:
  • A. Rich Girl
    B. Markus Tullus (Cicero)
    C. The Silken Knot
    D. Cortes
Earthly Wisdom, Round 1:
  • Marshall McLuhan
…and then I fell asleep, so maybe the rest will show up another time.
