old Winter 2019 weekly chase thread
Antarctica this Week (3.1)
It's a pretty quick and fun map. It has a neg income in the middle, but it is sometimes worth it. 59 territories.
On deck: Roman Empire II

Week 3.2: Rapa Nui
I was doing Rapa Nui 3.3, but to accommodate a RE II fan's schedule, just reversing the two. Rapa Nui is THIS week. RE II next.
Re: Weekly Map Planning and Feedback
Top ranks are stealing this week without even appearing in the chase map.
Week 3.3: Roman Empire II
Week 3.3: Roman Empire II. This is one of the most played Lux maps of all time. It is short and sweet. Income less important. Cards get big and the end game comes faster than you might expect.
Week 3.4: Canada HD.
Week 3.4: Canada HD. This is a cool map that a lot of folks like. 64 territories. Single territory bonuses and some challenging pathing. Doesn't tend to marathon. Starting this coming Sunday evening.

Week 3.4: Ca
Congrats to Pauley for winning week 3.3 in Roman Empire II. This week (3.4) is Canada HD.
I added bio 3 setting to one of the chase rooms for variety.

Week 4.1: Wars of the Roses
50 territories. Pretty fun map. Thanks to Samuel99is Back for nominating it.
Chase Map Changed to Cube Wars
No one sees the awesomeness that I see in Wars of the Roses and folks playing Cubes instead, so I give you Cube Wars. I'll set one of the hosts on bio Cubes if we get the extra host.
Trying out the 20 cards, 15 conts setting. 47 seconds. Cubes has 180 territories and can marathon if the income is high enough relative to cards. It's a fun map. Clicky-dee-dickedty.

Re: Weekly Chase Planning and Feedback
Well said Bean
Thank you.
Thank you.
4.2: cube wars again.
forgot to announce it. Cubes only got half a week last week, so a little more won't hurt.
4.3: WWII Europe Redux
This coming week a cool Europe map. It has sea territories. 90 total territories. It's a fun map. I remember Escapehatch dominating it as MOTM not too long before he appeared to quit lux. I miss that guy. Anyway, hope to see a few good fh games this week. cheers.

WWII Europe Redux Notes
Fun map with 90 territories. Here are some things to know in advance if you are new to it.
a. Confusing sea slots mostly behave like actual seas (you need to use the sea to get to the land on the other side), but they are marked by circles that are confusing because the circle represents all the water around it to the dotted lines or to land.
Tricky sea slot issues: Gibraltar, Sicily, Crete, Ireland, Denmark You can't just hop from Ireland to Wales, for example. The sea slot circle is NW of Ireland and is the only route. Gibraltar is the worst.
Sea slots get you across the map pretty fast, which is fun.
b. Incomes are a little imbalanced but sometimes seem logical from a real world perspective. Britain is huge income (and protected by water). Russia is even more huge, but too many borders. Peripheral areas are not as wealthy but do provide good access for card kills.
Income imbalances are worsened by the cont setting if it's high. As with Last King, there are places you should not let go for free, like Britain, no matter how "cool" you are.
There you go.

Week 4.4: Imperium Romanum Expletus
This week's map is Imperium Romanum Expletus. 103 Territories. 6 single zone city incomes. I'll put some bio in there for variety. Folks seem to love IRE bio 3 or bio 4.
Re: Weekly Chase
yes bio 5 is to much!
Re: Weekly Chase
bio 5 or 6 are whole different games
Week 4.5: The Hot Gates I and II
The Hot Gates: 43 territories.
The Hot Gates II: 55 territories.
Both quick and dirty. Have fun. Vietnam, Armengia, Epoch, Arms Race on deck.

Re: Weekly Chase
What fun was that? Getting ranked in bio? So so fun I know
Week 6.1: Hexwood Showdown
A popular Luxtoberfest map. 122 territories.
6.3: U.S.A. War Zone
97 territories.
Sam's suggestions
Texas

Week 6.4: Texas
'Samuel is back' makes a good suggestion in Texas I think. It's an interesting map. Slightly smaller than Imperium Romanum Expletus, but not many chokepoints and more variability in incomes.
Congrats to Landlord for kicking butt in last week's chase.
Welcome back Escapehatch. So great you are here!
Looking to a charity benefit tournament in July centered on the Arms Race map. Win the best average across the four week and get the pot donated to your preferred charity.

Week 7.1: Alamo
This is a pretty big map. Pretty fun, but watch out for one ways and income imbalances.
7.3: Friesland, Cube Wars, Crusades
As you may have noticed. Moving to a 3 map system for more variety and neck pain.

All feedback welcome. Reasoned feedback especially prized, but bald assertions and name calling are okay too.
