You put together a team through a draft. We're doing autodraft, so you don't even have to be there -- it'll just draft according to how you rank the players, or if you dont rank the players, it has a very good pre-ranking based on last season's results.
Each team has a player at each position, plus 3 extra hitters, and 7 pitchers. They accrue statistics in 10 basic areas throughout the season, and you trade/adjust your team as necessary.
I'd say if you look at your team once a week, and read the little notices (yahoo puts advisory notices out on the players) you'll be competitive. If you do a little extra research, you'll probably be at the top. It can be fun, and for me, at least, it's a way to find out about up and coming players who aren't from Detroit or San Francisco.
And if you win the league, I hear you get a medal, para, or at least something on the wiki.

The cool thing about leagues like this is you learn as you go. All the known commodities are highly ranked by yahoo anyways (and hence will be autodrafted for you), so they're not really the ones that make the difference. It's the players that no one knows, and who come out and surprise everyone, that make the differences. So the best advice I can give ANYONE, who plays or not, is to read the little notices yahoo puts up for the players, and check who is available and has been hot recently.

Seriously, the league will be better with more teams. Anyone else who likes baseball is strongly encouraged to join!

I'm not sure what you want to know, kef. The performance of your team is based on what the players actually do in the real baseball games, so the most important thing is knowing who is who and having the best lineup in every day. If you don't follow pro baseball, I'm not really sure how you could enjoy it.
