It's a fully automated system.

I set it to run 1 minute later, to hopefully avoid future complaints like this. The reset now happens at 8:01 EST.

well now that we know it resets at 8:01...then...what if a game ends at like 8:00 and 56 seconds...thus sparking another complaint about how the reset time should be extended yet again to 8:02...then of course it becomes a never ending cycle of complaints and resetting of rankings...i say stick with your initial reset time of 8:00! :P

unless the changing of the reset time was a sarcastic joke...then forget this post...cause sometimes i can't tell when dustin is joking or not.

well i hope you all look forward to my future posts! i'm sure you all can't wait

Big Will E Style - I did

Dustin, so why does it show i get raw for last week, but it does not get counted for either week? Can I at least get the stinkin effect for this week in return for the oh say about 30 spots I have lost on the bell for the last 3 weeks. The pain of my shattered hope when I see the game results V weekly results is crippling :(

why not just make it so that any game that starts before 8 pm counts in the rankings even if it starts at 7:59. I think this would add a kinda cool last hope game for the raw chasers it would make it so that last game wouldn't just go to waste.

What if (in the mentioned scenario) the top raw chaser is hosting, and things are unfavorable: then closes the game.

I pose, a lot of games would begin at 7:59 - and possibly play out with different consequences - depending upon what the standings are (potential for games to close).

Just leave it the way it is. And know that any game that has a chance to affect the final standings needs to be done by 7:59.

You realize, frost, that I am mainly angry that the game results COUNTED the raw for the weekly amount, but the reset did not. Thus, at the end of the game it reported i had 1415 raw, however, the reset said i had 1290..(or around that). All in all, NO RAW WAS REGISTERED from the game. I simply want the game to count towards raw in SOME sense. Also, to add to the pain, this same thing happened to me two weeks ago, and last week, I lost 131 at the bell 2 minutes before the reset, and it DID count, so it feels like something very anti-manimal here...

mike I understand your concern. However the same thing could happen anytime when u play lux that is why we have the option to rate the host. I don't think that it would be any more of a problem than what we r already dealing with.

i simply think that it would be kinda cool to be able to play that last game without the raw leaders taking all there turn time when they notice that they will loose raw or someone else will gain and pass them in the rankings. This happens all the time and I think that it kinda sucks that they get out of the game by just sitting there not letting the game finish.

It happens because the raw reset script does these things:

1. record the weekly rankings
2. calculate the updated seeds
3. update the awards
4. reset everyone to 500

You game finished after 1 but before 4.

Frost thanks for taking the time to reply in a genuine manner, and not posting a silly emoticon, or calling me dense (because I disagree with you)

I guess my point is this - there are always going to be ways to 'game' the system - I see where you are coming from, and that would be cool.. I don't advocate it though, for the potential to 'game' the system.

Nice idea, but a game could marathon for over an hour, then everyone would gripe that the scores were not coming up.

And mike, Image.

I can understand that. The first thought that comes to mind for me has to do with growth for the community. I know that there r a lot of people out there that feel raw has ruined the game and blah blah blah but I remember playing in the "old days" and I have just as much fun know as I did then. I think that part of that is due to the fact that the lux community has grown so much even in the last year and it has grown to be a lot more competitive than it used to be and I enjoy that. I think that making that end of the week run even that much more exciting would draw in more new members because they would see how much everyone gets into it during that medal chase. Having the last game start at 7:59 and that being the game that determines first would be cool in my opinion and I think the new breed of lux players would be into that and it would generate more positive excitement in the community and maybe give something good to start talking about in the forums instead of all the crap everyone talks about know. Maybe not, but I for one would sign on every week just to watch that last game of the top people trying to place one or two and would think others would to. As it is most of the games that u would think r going to determine first or second get dragged out and don't count in the seedings.

Drifter i think that if people were waiting for the results to pop up that would be good it would encourge an audience in games that new veterans would be the focus of. It may be a good way to get some of the "noobs" to start learning a little more about the game maybe that would be a step towards more new player development.[/quote]
